Spoke with sister-in-law tonight. She had a great time in Montreal although the weather didn't cooperate one day when they were there for race practices and she said they had a heck of a time getting off the island during the rain. Their seats were like 10 feet away from the fencing said they were great. They splurged on some champagne and had a blast. However, she said they didn't really do much sight seeing, really only sticking with down town. It didn't sound like they saw stuff down there other than eating in some places and walking around some. They were super busy with the race and being tired. From what she was saying that didn't sound like the original plan. I really appreciate the help months ago when I asked, she said she appreciated that as well.

Funny note she said the Canadian border patrol (they flew to Albany drove across the border due to flight pricing and times) were chillax didn't even ask for any of their covid paperwork they filled out (ArriveCAN), the American border patrol were a lot more abrupt in their manner. Of course when they were asked "where are you coming from" the driver (sister-in-law's boyfriend) answered "uhh U.S." while..still being in the U.S. 🤦‍♀️ so he got kinda a look from the U.S. border agent. They were just caught off guard by the question and didn't know how to answer like where are they from vs where did they drive from vs having both of those said.

The only ran into a minor language barrier, they were getting pizza in a metro station and the sign said in french only debt or cash which they didn't understand the sign and didn't know that was the situation until they went up to pay. The only one who had some cash on him paid for it with what little he had but he paid a bad conversion rate from what she said. The cash they had was U.S. dollars.

But all in all it was a good trip for them and they'd do it again.

All those things you listed we have here, they are nothing new. In fact, quickly looking through the list you will find things that didn't originate in the US.
I was talking about specific desserts on that list that originated in specific states. Examples:
banana foster, black and white cookie, Boston cream pie.

Then why share a link to a list that is labelled American Desserts?

Still nothing in there is really new and unheard of.

So, I'm coming "home" in the near future. Anything new and exciting in the grocery stores that I need to check out? Any special flavours or treats for Canada Day this year? My son has never had Chapman's Ice Cream or Clearly Canadian, so those are on our list for him to try. I obviously know about All-Dressed Chips, Ketchup Chips, Hickory Sticks, Cheezies, Flake and Crunchie bars, etc. I'm wondering if there is anything new and exciting out that I should try. One of the last times we were back, we saw so many unique potato chip varieties in the World of Flavours (President's Choice) line and also ones like steak??? or cheeseburger??? (I don't recall now), but didn't pick up any, as we weren't sure which ones were good. Superstore (Saskatchewan) is where I usually get to browse the most, but we will have a vehicle, so if there are other stores I should hit up, I'm open to suggestions. The US may have more Pop Tart flavours, but Canada has the best snacks by far.

More specifically (for a very limited audience, I'm sure, but maybe someone has visited recently) I am also looking for restaurant suggestions, if you know of any we must try, including dishes to order, for MJ, Stoon, and PA. I'm sure a lot has changed (or maybe it hasn't??? Ha!) in the last three years. We hit a couple of good places in Saskatoon the last time (Cathedral Social Hall was pretty good), but the other cities were very limited.

And for my final request, any shops or other locations in Saskatoon that are worth a gander if we have some time to kill? (I'm familiar with the museums, Forestry Farm, etc.) The last time we hit up the Berry Barn and also Puzzle Master. Loved Puzzle Master and we spent a lot of time there!
