American Traveller's Cheques

We are planning to take American Express Travellers Cheques with us to Florida and was wondering if there is any problem cashing them

I've used multiple types of travellers check w/o issue all over WDW and Orlando area for that fact.

In most places in WDW you don't even need to cash them! I would cash a few to have cash for vending carts or places where you want to make a quick transaction... maybe a CS restaurant, etc... but we've used them in restaurants and stores with no problem!

All stores and restaurants will accept the American Express Travelers checks, so there is no need to cash them. Just buy something and keep the change to use at free standing carts that don't accept them.

I personally will Not leave home without them. I've never had a problem cashing them. Sometimes when I am off site, I may be asked for i.d, but this problem can be solved by cashing what ever you think you will need at the front desk. A few years ago, fresh off the plane, and I lost my travelers cheques. What a way to start a vacation! Anyway, I called American Express, and I had new TC in my posession by 9:30 the next morning. Service was great, and I highly recomend them.

I have never used the new TC card, but I really don't care for the idea. It reminds me too much of a gift card. I like to count my money, and TC at the end of the day, and budget accordingly. I don't think I could do that with a TC card.

I have seen a commercial about a new kind of debit card from American Express that works like the travelers checks. You pre load it for a certain amount and then use it like a debit card. Has anyone used this and does it exist or am I just thinking wrong??...smjj

Wow! What a cool idea... no having to sign stacks of Travelers checks to buy something! I hope all Travelers Check companies adopt this practice!
