American, paying for baggage?

Flying American for the first time on Wednesday and can't figure out how to pay for a checked bag. Do I call? Can I pay at the gate, is it a different fee? This is all new to me as we usually fly Southwest and I can't seem to find the info on Americans website.

If you check in online you can pay then too. Then you just give your luggage to the sky cap (with tip) or the ticket counter.

There's no charge for curbside check for American. I know USAirways used to do it.
