American mobiles

Whan we went to WDW last year we bought 2 virgin oyster mobile phones very basic but worked well. Now my question is how do our family/friends phone us on them while we are over there? Do we just add 001 to the mobile number? I also assume that it will be cheaper than using our uk mobiles? They def work out cheaper to call each other over there!

Yes, your F&F should be able to get you by adding 001 - it's a regional US number you'll have. It might cost them a bit to call you, but you should be OK!

Also how did you top them up (I guess they were pay as you go?) Were you able to phone home on them?

we got the mobiles from virgin @DTD, I think they cost us about $30 each plus taxes (they were the cheapest available) and with a 10% discount from either our dvc membership or annual passes they worked out really good value. We did manage to phone the UK with them. We do have to put $10 - 20 on them every few months but to do that we set up a US paypal account and gave our address as the hotel we were at. You do have to register them on the internet first, we did that at the coffee internet cafe on 192, near the krispy creme outlet which is really cheap for half hour ($5) as we didnt take our laptop.
