Is it just me, or does Trenyce look like a "gender bender"? From the moment I laid eyes on her (?), I thought she (?) looked like a guy who became a girl. Something is just a little "off" there!

Why is everyone so down on Kim Caldwell!?? I think she is The One!! She's the next A.I.!! Come on! She's got the "All American" innocent looking face, she has the body, the clothes and most of all the VOICE!

I've tried to root for Carmen since she's our local girl, but gotta admit she didn't sound very good tonight. I hope she hangs on for another week though.

Hated Rickey's hat, loved that Ruben got out of the 205 clothes. He looked 100% better!

Most everybody did good tonight. I predict Carmen, Kim Caldwell & Rickey or Trenyce in the bottom 3. I predict Kim C. goes.

I liked Lionel's constructive criticism. Some of the judges you could tell had never watched the show before.

Uh, I think Trenyce is all woman.

NEVER have liked Kimberly C., she is way too cocky and is cute but does not have anywhere near the voice necessary to win. I'd put her at the bottom along with Carmen, who I think has a good voice but really just needs to grow into it.

I'm a big Clay fan but I too think he needs to expand his horizons. Reuben is also at the top of my list and he did an excellent job tonight. I was very impressed with Kimberly L. for the first time tonight too.

Should be an interesting few weeks!

I was just thinking about this, and between Ruben finally wearing something new, and Kim C actually being somewhat humble tonight, do you think they've started paying attention to the public's opinions somehow?

Also, I looked back, and Ricky is NOT wearing the glasses the first time! How weird! I'm now convinced of a conspiracy.

I loved that Kim C took a risk and sang something with more of a range and a melody! However, I still think she doesn't sing very well.

I'm not into the Ruben hype either but think he gets better each week. His voice has always been there, but now he's adding more expression and his outfit tonight was great. I think he could be it.

I love Kimberly L because of her terrific voice. I'm not sure if she should be the American Idol though. When she pulls back and just sings a ballad like tonight she seems to fit the "pop" sound better. I've never cared for Celine Deion all that much - I'd rather watch Kimberly!

Carmen singing slightly under pitch drives me crazy! (Kim C. does it too)

Clay's vowels still bother me - especially "You" - he really "ew"s.

Trenyce didn't get noticed enough during the elimination round so she stepped it up - too much in my opinion. She has a terrific voice, but the diva act is getting a bit much.

I still think there are a bunch of people up there who could make a living with their voice!

Worst: I've never been crazy about Carmen, but she can do a good job when she picks a country/pop kind of song that showcases her voice. Maybe a Fleetwood Mac song? NOT a Blondie song!!!! She's an alto, not a soprano. It was just AWFUL. Even Simon, her benefactor, said it was dreadful and that's the first time he's said anything bad about her.

Second Worst: Kimberly Caldwell is really starting to grate on my nerves too. She's a camera hog with a pretty face and an incredibly small vocal range. Even so, she has done okay in the past. Why in the world would she pick a Bryan Adams song?!!!

Third Worst: Trenyce! I used to think that she had "it," but she seems to just be screaming at the top of her lungs now.

Best: Ruben is so smooth and easy. Every week he picks a different kind of song and a different sound, and he makes it his own. He looked so nice last night too. I'm glad to see him trying to pull off a different look.

Second Best: Josh was certainly back to form. Although it's a country-specific sound, I think he'll come out of this with a country recording contract, even if he doesn't win the competition. I rank him above Clay this week. It hurts, because Clay has been my favorite.

Third Best: I hate that song that Clay sang and always have. Unfortunately, he didn't do anything to spice it up for me either. He needs to take a risk. Move around a little. Sing something other than a ballad. It's time to step up his game.


Rickey and Kimberly L. were "OK." Not the best. Not the worst. I think they'll be safe.

I think that a "blonde" will go tonight.

It's so interesting to read everyone's different opinions. My bottom 3 for last night would have to be Carmen, Kimberly Caldwell and Josh Gracin. I know a lot of people loved him last night, but I just *didn't*! He's too inconsistent, kind of karaoke.

I thought Ricky did well last night, for the first time he impressed me. Clay really needs to be on Broadway -- I think his voice and presentation is perfect for that. I loved that Ruben got rid of the 205 gear -- he looked very stylish! Dh and I both didn't "get" the Ruben hype to begin with but he won us over with the Aladdin song and then "Sweet Home Alabama" the next week!

I'm really looking forward to the results show tonight!

Here's my rankings for last night ~

Best Last Night: Ruben -- has always been my favorite and is still going strong!

Good Last Night: Josh -- he gave me chills last night and I am not a country music person. Trenyce -- I know a lot of people didn't like her performance but I thought she did great with that song. Ricky -- He's not the best of the group but I think he pulled the song off very well. Clay -- I can't say he was bad because he did sing nicely but he just doesn't seem to be the right "type" for AI and he really needs to do something with that hair .

Bad Last Night: Kim L. -- I don't get the Kim L. hype. Kim C. -- not her best performance. Carmen -- very karaoke last night.

I think that since the votes are carried over we will see Kim C., Trenyce, and Carmen in the bottom. I also agree that Carmen will probably be going home.

Gotta tell you I have been a big Clay fan since AI2 season began.. but Mr. Reuben Blew me away last night.. So glad he got into a Leather Jacket and left the 205 shirts at home! He came across as someone who got some self confidence! and he should! The man can sing...

Clay- Grand voice.. gotta show he can do different stuff.. at least something a little different.
Josh... I like country music and this guy can sing country very well
Rickey... This kid tries SO DARN HARD EVERY TIME! He has tried different looks, different presentations etc.. I hope he gets a job somewhere where they will appreciate his work ethic.
KimL... I like this girl.. it has taken awhile to warm up to her.. she needs to have a stronger start to all her performances.. when she hits her stride her voice is amazing

Very good, I'm always amazed at his high voice.

I don't post on this board very often, and was thrilled to see a thread about American Idol!!!

Clay - I adore Clay!!! I think he did a great job (as usual) and was thrilled with his performance.

Kimberly L - I thought she did a wonderful job with this song, she is really improving!!!

Rickey - Ugh, there is just something about his voice that I can't stand. I didn't like it at all.

Kimberly C - She did good, but she can do better. If she doesn't improve, she will be out in the next 2 or 3 rounds.

Carmen - Ugh, I hated the song choice. And didn't think she sang it very well. She deserves to go tonight.

Josh - Amazing!!! He did an awesome job, and even if he doesn't win the competition, he has a career as a country singer!

Trenyce - I think she sang this song quite well, I'm not a big fan of hers either. But I don't think she deserves to go tonight.

Ruben - AWESOME as usual!!! That man can sing!

I think either Clay or Rueben will win it!

Carmen's outta there - can't imagine any other outcome after last night's awful performance. But she's young - plenty of other chances will come her way, I'm sure.

Kim C. needs to be in the bottom TWO this week - very poor choice of song for her limited range.

Trenyce and her winking are beginning to get on my nerves, too. Once was cute, but now it's coming off as contrived.

Ricky did a great job last night - I was holding my breath, thinking how dreadful it would be if he did try to sing both parts of the song, but he didn't, thankfully.

Josh was pretty awesome - he chose well for his song. He redeemed himself after an awful performance last week.

Kim L. did a great job as well - she needs to get a pass out of the bottom 3. I didn't think what she was wearing "matched" the song, though.

Clay did well, but needed to put a little more oomph into that song. I was kind of hoping he'd do a song like "Together Forever" by Rick Astley - he sounds so much like him, and it's more uptempo.

Ruuuuuuubennnn - no 205 shirt! I actually screamed when I saw him wearing something new! He picked a great song - he does well with that aspect.

Ruben & Clay remain my two choices, as I've picked them all along, and I'm stickin' with 'em. I did vote SEVERAL times for Kim L. though, since I don't believe she deserves to be in the bottom 3.
