American Idol- who is the guest judge?

It's Carol Bayer Sager- from what I gathered in the beginning of the show, she is an accomplished songwriter. I think Phil Collins, Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond were mentioned.

DH wanted to know why Joan Collins was judging this evening.

I missed the beginning so when DD asked who the guest judge was I told her Joan Collins - an actress who used to be on a nighttime soap. I was really confused when they started calling her Carol and couldn't figure out who in the heck she was!

Too funny, when my daughter asked, at first glance I thought it was Paula with a new haircut, then I looked closer and thought it was Joan Collins. Then I thought Pat Benatar with some facial surgery, lol! But after she spoke I knew I didn't have a clue who the woman was.

I am so glad you asked this question. I thought it was Joan Collins as well. I could not understand why she would be a judge on American Idol. Made no sense to me at all.

At first I thought it was a Pooh sized Pat Benatar but DBf told me it was Joan Collins & I kept saying no, they are calling her Carol. I had no clue (and still don't) as to who she is/was.

IF I remember correctly she co-wrote the theme from "Arthur" ('between the moon and NYC - it's crazy but it's true) with Burt Bacharach and Peter Allen and they won an award for it, maybe an Oscar.
