We can start a thread in June for Americas Got Talent.
When in July do you see the Idols? We don't get to see them until August 26th.
We could also post reviews of the AI concerts because I think a lot of us are going to those.
I was really hoping I'd wake up this morning and see Adam in the green on dialidol. I have to say I'm actually really worried that he might not win.
I'm completely prepared for Kris to get the confetti shower - as is Adam. Any time the question gets asked about who's going to win - Adam points to Kris far faster than the reverse. Adam has repeatedly said that comparing them is apples and oranges, and that they obviously have a very different fan base. Adam's career will be global and I can see a lot of big names, like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Madonna etc. who will probably want to work with him.
As has been pointed out, the problem with relying on polls is that you can only vote once on them - kind of like the iTunes downloads. If American Idol changed the rules to allow for one vote per person than Adam would probably win.
I have the feeling that Adam's tongue comes into play a lot. I think many people are not necessarily voting FOR Kris, but rather AGAINST Adam and his tongue. Haven't you people SEEN the ridiculous faces Kris makes when he sings? I'd never hate him for it though- a musician does whatever it takes to get the music out the way you want it. John Mayer (sp?) has some interesting facial contortions too, but he's doing great.
When I watch Kris sing it always looks like he has so much tension in his lower face and jaw. The sideways angle that he puts his mouth and jaw doesn't help him with this problem and it doesn't help them hit the high notes either. I think hed benefit greatly from a few years of serious vocal training.
What makes you certain Kris had the option to change the key???
Nobody would ever insist a performer sing in a key that is wrong for him. In other words, if a female was singing this, she'd sing it in a higher key then a baritone would. In the world of professional music this simply would not happen. The problem was pretty obvious. Kris has a limited range of probably 1 1/2 octaves, whereas Adam can easily span three octaves. That's why Adam can sing a song like this and Kris cant. If he started in a lower key, he would've never hit the lower notes at the beginning of the song. He could barely sing them as it was.
I agree! I HATE when people write off (or just completely put down) a singer for being "too Broadway." !
Completely agree with this. And there's no need to be a great instrumentalist as well as be a great vocalist. Though most opera or lieder singers can play piano, they'd never play well enough to accompany themselves and would never do it in concert.
I just got home from my last two finals and am as freee as a bird for the next three months

I've literally been listening to Freebird for the past hour to celebrate

Now it's time for some Idol! I usually watch with the fam but my parents and brother are going to buy a new car tonight from the accident, so I'll finally be able to log on and post live. Can't wait!
Congrats!!!! And thanks for the live carpet updates
It's his STEP daughter. He married my friend's daughter about a year ago. He told me that Ruben was going to the finale.. I asked if he could PACK me!!
You know some interesting people! When I re-listened to Adam singing A Change is Gonna Come (without all the tension of the live show), it brought tears to my eyes. It clearly had a lot of meaning for him and every phrase of it was beautiful.
Though Kris will most likely win, I persuaded several of my colleagues (all professional musicians) to tune into the show last night and let me know what they thought. They all had the same reaction as my Mom (who watched with me for the first time). They were incredibly impressed with Adam's vocal skills and were just as surprised that a singer of Kris caliber was considered the other best singer out of thousands of auditionees. I guess Kris is an acquired taste.
