I love that they are so critical of the contestants and then have a "mentor" like Miley Cyrus or a train wreck performance like last week with Kesha!. I am a fan of a couple people this year and think overall the talent this season a bit lacking. However, on their worst day most of these contestants can sing better then Kesha or Miley!
Miley Cyrus is only famous because of her father and I am still at a loss as to how he got there.....

eta: i'm looking thru these, and i've gotten back to 2002 and most of the songs are rap songs....or songs that obviously can't be sang on the AI stage. so now i don't want to hear the judges talk about "why didn't you pick a current song!?" because there really isn't a whole lot to choose from

Nope. Guess that's why I mainly listen to alternative music... There's been more songs in that genre than "Top 40" during the 2000-2009 time period. Hence why there's not much change in the Number 1's during that time.....

Aren't mentors supposed to be experienced artists in the music industry that have the ability to lend some of their expertise to the contestants for their future endeavors?

That's what I used to think.
