Aren't mentors supposed to be experienced artists in the music industry that have the ability to lend some of their expertise to the contestants for their future endeavors?

Well not like they can pick anything new when most of the number 1's are rap/hip-hop. Not a way to stretch one's vocal range. IMO, rap is for people who can't sing to start with.

yeah that's what i had figured, but there's plenty of songs from the 80's and 90's they could have sang.

i don't even know if "scared" is the word i'd use.....he just looks like he has no idea what to do on stage. he just kind of awkwardly stands there and sings....i almost get second-hand embaressment from watching.
