Who knew Paula was the glue that held this show together!?!

I miss Sanjaya. Heck, throw Kristy Lee Cook in there as well! She'd have been a shoe in this season. Right, Robin? :rotfl:

i can't ever like Kristy Lee....she has MY first name and David Cook's lastname.....therefore i'm eternally jealous:rotfl:

i think i'm going thru season 7 withdrawl, i had a dream about David Cook lastnight, he had fire engine red hair, but still...that dream was better than the show has been.....

Even Danny Noriega would have spiced it up this year...

god i remember him and his little attitude....no thank you.....i'm glad he didn't stick around long.

The whole season is just so BAD.

I think they concenetrate too much on the weirdos in the beginning of the shows and they MISS the talent when they are in these cities.

I think the bad talent started out as a mistake and was funny to watch but now it is like Idol does 2 different shows.
One about the the weirdos who have no talent & the back stories of people who will make it AND another one trying to do the real Idol.

Now, it has caught up with them and the bad untalented weirdos aren't so funny 'cause it seems like people are trying too hard and Idol has missed the talent in these cities. A lot of time people who really do have talent don't even bother trying out because 3/4 of the time they are looking for the weirdos instead of them. :(

Either Idol needs a TOTAL MAKOVER or the show needs to be canned because this season is really, really BAD.

That seems to be the growing consensus. There is usually a few in the beginning that always say that. I'm fairly certain I did last season and then ended up with a total boy crush on Adam. But this year it seems like I'm hearing it everywhere. Here, family, friends, entertainment shows....I like to watch people grow on this show and get better over time. Just not sure there are those contestants this time.

Amen, Brenda!

Every year they know they'll have their audience for the weirdos (I know lots of people who ONLY watch that part) and they satisfy them.

This year they totally dropped the ball with the finalists. In their defense (slightly) I think this group totally disappointed the choosers. They had MUCH more potential in Hollywood week than they do now. It truly sux to have PEAKED in Hollywood week... :sad2:

i don't even think the "bad" contestants are the problem.

it's the filler that they put into the audition rounds. the judges bantering between each other, the backround on the cities(which they've been to before, we don't need to rehash it again), the sob stories.....

they all take up way too much time and you barely even see anyone sing. even if it IS one of the bad ones, you only see MAYBE 6 people from each city even sing.

...well, well, well.....ITA.....

I think the main problem was that Hollywood Week usually takes place before the auditions air, so episodes are tailored to feature contestants who performed well during Hollywood. This year, Ellen was not brought in until the last minute and Hollywood Week was not shot until audition episodes had already begun to air, so they ended up essentially wasting airtime on contestants who didn't last (Amadeo De-whatever, Erica Rhodes, Paige Dechausse, etc.), while a good deal of talented people fell by the wayside until the Best of the Rest auditions episode. I think this is the reason why a good deal of people weren't over the moon about the Top 24. We weren't properly introduced to the right people. The season is just now beginning to pick up steam.

Any predictions for this week's eliminations?

I'm thinking Lacey will go this week. Possibly Todrick too, if he can't please the judges.

I never watched the auditions for that reason. I get tired of wishing someone would go thru and we never see them again.

I came in at Hollywood week and I'm still highly disappointed. I tried to see these people from Top 24 on and sorry, they are still under par to me.

As for who goes this week I think it will be:

One of the very young guys

Toddrick's days are NUMBERED

Top 12:

Big Mike
Lee
Andrew
Casey
Alex
Aaron

Crystal
Siobhan
Lilly
Katie
Didi
Paige

I sort of like Lacey, hope she does stay and Tim will only stay if VFTW and hormonal girls keep him on.

Dude!

I know how to fix American Idol. And it's easy, too, considering it's on Fox!!

I'll give y'all a hint with only two words:

Jack. Bauer.

Or turn it into a sci-fi show and it gets canned in 13 episodes.
