The show isn't over here yet, but I just had to post that I'm really put off when the contestants back talk the judges like Juanita did tonight. Do they think they gain favor with the public by acting like this? Yuck!

I have to agree with you. Anyone with that type of an attitude will NOT be getting my vote.

I was a little disappointed with tonight. I thought the two best were the Marine and Corey. I think they will probably get in the final 10. The other singers just didn't do anything for me and I thought that the blonde girl (Amanda?) and Juanita were really, really bad.

I am very interested in seeing the wild card show last week. The two people that I think should win those slots are Kimberly Caldwell and Clay.

Did anyone else notice when Simon said something about the top 10 and said "Kimberlies"? I wonder if the other Kimberly is already guaranteed a spot or was it just a slip?

I think Corey and the Marine (Josh?) will get into the top 10. I really don't like it when the contestants bad mouth the judges. Granted Simon can say some harsh things, but let's face it Juanita stank!! And what was up with the one check saying she wanted to be a Diva so she could always get her way. That'll make me vote for ya!! (NOT!)

We voted for Joshua & Corey! I could see Corey winning the whole thing.

Another one who voted for Joshua and Kory. I can't stand the attitudes either.

I am predicting that there will be a male American Idol this time around as the men seem to be doing better then the ladies.

I agree, some of them had terrible attitudes. Especially that girl that said Simon knows nothing about music. They all seem to gang up on Simon's remarks even when the other 2 judges agree with him.

Remember all the negative press Justin Guarini got last year when he balked at Simon's remarks, now they all do it. While he may be harsh in his judgements, this is his business and the music industry is very competitive.

I liked Corey and Josh

Tonight was the easiest pick for me of the whole competition. It's Joshua (Marine) and Corey. No one else seemed to be even close to those two.

I hate the attitude too, but I saw Simon interviewed and he said he tells them right up front that he wants them to give it right back to him.

I actually feel really sorry for the ones that are really bad. They've been told they are good enough to be there and then WHAM! - huge failure in front of millions. It seems so cruel.

I also noticed the Kimberly comment - I'm sure they'll have the blond Kimberley back on the wild card show. After tonight's show I doubt any of the 6 that aren't chosen will be back. On the wild card show I hope to see Kimberly, Clay, Hadas, Trenyce, Samantha Cohen, and Patrick. (I actually went to the site and looked up their names - how sick am I?) I couldn't even find two more that I remembered liking enough.

During the tryouts I thought there would be some wonderful singers in this competition, based on those performances. I honestly have not seen ONE of them who could hold a candle to last season's competitors! I've just not been wowed by any of them.

I was amazed at the lack of quality tonight.. Cory was just Ok for me.. Joshua was very good, Patrick could have been better..

It seemed that the other groups were top heavy with TALENT.. and it was very difficult to just come up with two favorites.
This group had easy pickin's as far as I am concerned.

Two things I do not like about the show this season
1. Family and friends in the "green room" waiting area
2. ATTITUDE!!! by contestants.. they are there to be judged,
not to roll their eyes, shake their heads and say nasty things about the judges.. poor sportsmanship.
I think that they can voice their disagreement with the judges when interviewed by Ryan SeaCrest AFTER they have LEFT the stage.

I agree!!! My husband and I were saying the same exact things last night, get rid of the families and the attitude, and most of the good ones seemed to be grouped into the same first groups and they weren't spread out very well.

I'm tired of the attitude from the contestants arguing with the judges, mostly Simon. I liked Joshua last night and I hope he moves on. I don't like Corey, am I the only one? :D

You are not the only one!!! Cory does not do it for me at all!!!! Neither did Justin from last year!! Too wimpy, too girly for an American Idol IMO.

DH and I liked the Marine and felt that Chip (I think he was second) had potential.

The talking back is ridiculous! The judges are the professionals and some of the contestants are showing just how truly unprofessional they are! Can you imagine how HUGE the attitudes would be if some of them did get a little fame and money? Scary!!

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about Justin either. Glad to know I'm not the only one ;)

I'm so glad you started this thread Liz because if I didn't see it this morning I was going to start one. I agree with everyone else that this attitude and talking back to the judges has got to stop. I was so sick of these kids thinking they're 'all that' and they didn't need any critizium that I almost turned it off. I think even Ryan Seacrest didn't know what to say to these kids when they came back. I was just so turned off by them coming in and sitting down and being proud of themselves for mouthing off like that. You better believe I wouldn't even be one of the contestants that clapped and cheered for someone like that when they came back into the greenroom. UGH! Don't they realize that we'll never hear from most of these kids again if they don't make it into the top ten?
Mamajoan I completely agree with the family and friends in the green room as well. Who thought of that great idea?

I vote for Josh but no one else came close to getting a vote. This was probably the worst group yet!

I forgot to say in my post I was hoping Patrick did better. I really like him. I knew having to sing with just a piano was going to be difficult for him though. :(

I think Ryan Seacrest should be armed with a bar of soap for those mouths spewing all that attitude. A good washing would do them well. :p

I couldn't believe how they raved over Corey. It just didn't sound that great to me. His voice seems weak and I just don't go for that Michael Jackson sound.

Without a doubt, Joshua is very talented! I think he'll get in. Simon obviously likes him and I'm glad he asked him the question about what will happen if his unit gets called up. I think that probably won him even more votes.

I felt sorry for Patrick. I really like him and think he's unique, talented and has spunk. I think he would have done better if he'd picked a Billy Joel song. That way he could have made the most of his "rocker" voice with just the piano to accompany him. I would like to see him in the wild card round, but think that Simon really doesn't like him at all.

I thought that Chip did a whole lot better than they gave him credit for. I loved the song that he sung and thought he was better than Corey.

The one girl, I don't remember which one it was, who couldn't even enunciate her words (they all ran together and she wasn't emphasizing all of the consonants - sounded like mush), then told Simon that he hadn't been "in a black church" because "that was singing." For goodness sake! What did that have to do with anything? She was just awful.
:(

I thought that Josh was great, and his response about his dedication to the military was outstanding.

When Paula and Randy stood and clapped after Corey's performance, I thought:

Maybe the others think that talking back is what's expected, but it only puts the spotlight on their immaturity.

Overall, it was the least talented grouping. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if they hadn't disqualified Frenchie. This was going to be her night.:( :(

I thought Josh was the only decent one of the group. I was helping DS with homework in the kitchen and just listening and Josh was the only one that prompted me to go see what he looked like. I really liked Josh's attitude as well. Very wholesome. The girls were AWFUL! I didn't like the rocker either. DS said right off that the guy had a rock voice that didn't go with the piano. He needed to pick a better song.

Anyone else find that they agree with Simon almost all the time? .

I agree with everything said so far. I can't stand it when the contestants give attitude to the judges. And it's true, they always complain about Simon, when Randy usually says the same things.

Last nights contestants, most of them were just plain bad!!!! And I also agree, they said this years group would be much better than last seasons, but they aren't even close.

I also commented on Simon's Kimberly's comment, I think she is the only one worthy of the wild card spot.

Thank goodness for Ryan Seacrest, he is the highlight of the show lately. What can he say to these people after they perform and then argue like they do.
