American Idol Thread

Joining up with the new thread...

Ramiele had to go. It was inevitable. If it hadn't been Dolly week, then it would've been Kristy Lee. I think she'll have her turn next week.

If David Cook can make "Little Sparrow" sound sexy then the man is a musical genius. I love his hair now, and he really is a funny guy witha terrific personality.

Hi there! I agree with you! But, Kristy Lee did a good job, surprisingly so, with the Martina McBride song, don't you think? David Cook is my man!

PamNC

P.S. hope to see ya' soon!

Funny from last night...DD (6) and I were watching and Fergie comes on and sings and then she comes back out to sing with Heart and DD says "Mom? I don't really like that blonde girls pants." :lmao:

She had on tight black leather. :rotfl:

They were so tight and shiny they looked more like rubber! I didn't like them either. But I thought she sounded great, and the gymnastics, wow :worship: .

Anyone else, besides me, not even watch "Idol Gives Back" last night?

I didn't care much for it last year, so didn't even bother with it this year.

Nope, I didn't watch it either. The DVR recorded it because it is set up to tape Idol, but I haven't watched it and don't plan on it.
Oh I take that back I did watch the first 5 minutes when the performers all came out on stage to sing and the dancers were out there.
Other then that --- that was it

I was flipping between Idol Gives Back and the Cubs game.
I only wanted to watch Idol to see Chris Daughtry-of course he was all the way at the end of the show. But it was worth it :lovestruc

I did enjoy Fergie singing with Heart.

My prediction is that Syesha is going home tonight.

Another thing I was disappointed in the show last night ~ turning the end of the show into a church service. :sad2:

Very very disappointed that they sang a song about God and Jesus to close the show.

OH and Robin, as I'm listening to a bunch of MJ songs I just downloaded off iTunes, I wanted to let you know that I had a very *ahem* naughty dream about him last night. :lovestruc  :rotfl:

I was disappointed that they cut the word Jesus out of the song. It is one of my favorites. :sad2:

Nope, not the only one. Had absolutely zero interest in watching, let alone contributing. And the only reason I watched last year was to see who got bumped...which of course, never happened.

It really looked like she had the top on backwards.

Yes it did!

ETA: sorry, went back a few pages for this one...it's about Paula's interesting wardrobe selection the other night.

On The Idol Gives Back Show, I think it was the second group sing, each one had a little solo except Brooke, anyone notice that?

I did notice that, I commented to my daughter on that. I believe that was in Seasons of Love (the song I want to buy, but can't find on Itunes).

Was that the outfit where it looked like she had the top of her ****s but the rest weren't there - That is what it looked like to me and DH on Tuesday night. DH said "were are the rest of her ****s? :confused3 ???"

OMG, that rendition of "Shout to the Lord" was SO slow it was practically a DIRGE. UNBELIEVABLE!!! The tempo was completely WRONG WRONG WRONG. They made it into a STOOPID easy-listening Muzak tune, for crying out loud. The song has *some* urgency to it, it is NOT in the easy-listening/slow-dancing tempo of
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and.
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and.
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 ad nauseum ad nauseum.

AWFUL :scared: .

That is one of my favorite songs and AI ruined it!!!! They ALL deserve to go home after that craptastic performance. WHOEVER is doing the arrangements should be FIRED (along with the 'expert' :lmao: ...Hoo-Boy, that's a good laugh...in charge of the sound system/microphones... Was Brooke supposed to be doing that 'solo' haha? And are the back-up band & singers supposed to drown out the contestants EVERY SINGLE WEEK?!?)

ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK. WHERE is a vomiting smiley when I NEED it?!?

And, btw, I really am TIRED of hearing whoever it is take their big ol' friggin' BREATHS so noisily. UGH. It's not just Little Davey A, either...there were a whole bunch of noisy breathers up there on that stage last night. They really don't need to gulp down their air, for crying out loud. IF I can HEAR them breathe in, they are probably taking TOO shallow a breath in the first place. TAKE YOUR BREATHS DEEP people!

Ok, I'm done now, but man I am GLAD I missed the performance on live TV last night...I would have probably thrown a chair at the TV.

Yea, some of the pros stunk up the joint, I never did figure out what the words were to Mariah Carey's number. And, yeah, I know she has a freak high to her voice, but it doesn't matter...I still CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE WORDS. Minnie Ripperton was better in those high registers anyway. Barbara Cook could give a master class to Ms. Carey in how to sing high notes and have the audience enjoy it.

They didn't just change "Shout to the Lord" up, they massacred it.

I am never been so peeved about an AI performance. There are plenty of inspirational songs they could have chosen that don't mention "Praise to the King" and "The mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of His Name" and, oh yes, of course, the title...

SHOUT TO THE LORD. :confused3

They changed quite a few of the words, took out "My Jesus, my Savior", but then left "Lord" in...maybe AI thought folks would think it was about someone else if they tinkered with the words? They could have used "When You Walk Through a Storm" OR, hey here's an idea.
How about the finale music for IllumiNations...
WE GO ON. Now, THAT would probably been truly inspiring.

Ugh, truly craptastic. I'm with you though - glad my faves did well and am liking David Cook more and more.

AI made a clear commercial choice to try to pull in contemporary Christian & gospel fans and maybe they think they should pay a little more attention to a huge market and throw a sop to the fans of that music genre.

Didn't work for me.

agnes!

Fergie's pants were rubber. I saw a picture of "Posh" Beckham in them last week and the caption said they were rubber. Just what I want....a pair of hot rubber pants.

Robin's gonna be mad at you! ;)

Substitute Yankees' game for Cubs' game and you've got my night exactly!
