Yep, ITA!! My dad passed away of cancer, and it ticks me off when people play the cancer card or exploit some other adversity in their life. It just rubs me the wrong way.
Exactly. My dad has cancer. I don't really have a relationship with him but he doesn't tell people about his health because he doesn't want people feeling that way, that he's a person with cancer. That's how I think he feels anyway.
I don't understand why people think because they have a family hardship, death or illness that they are so much more special. I could list several problems that I have and things that have happened to my family that would maybe make people feel sorry for me. I wouldn't do it though because those things don't make me as a person.
