American Idol Season 9 Thread

I wasn't sure about the Sanjaya girl. Was it really her, or were they eluding that it looked like her? They didn't really give her much time and didn't make a big deal about it. Had it been her, wouldn't they have interviewed her more?

I don't see the point to them, unless they make a deal to show the story if they let them show the bad singing.

How else are you going to tell that the singer they are highlighting is going to be good or not? You can almost always tell by the vignettes whether or not you're hearing serious audition or a goof.

Did anyone notice that in the contestants that made it, Jason Castro's brother made it to Hollywood again? Or at least someone who looked exactly like him:

Yeah, we dumped the audition shows after watching AI for just a couple of seasons. We're now ff-ing through them while eating dinner, watching an hour in about 15-20 minutes. We actually will probably do the same with the whole series, this season, just due to lack of time, but the auditions were gone years ago.

I just fast forward to the judges comments. I can't take the bad auditions.

Either this person has really, really bad luck or is claiming bad things for publicity. Just too much has happened odd, I'm starting to question it all.

I always thought that it was after the audition tapes are shown on TV but now that reports are out that someone has been disqualified because his family leaked that he was in the top 24, I'm confused.

I am late commenting here -- but I agree with all those who didn't think much of Avril. She has always come off like a brat. I thought it was an age thing when she first broke. But I can see she hasn't matured much in the last several years. Her "hoodie" looked ridiculous.

Katy's little dig about lifetime movies was good, but I found her mostly useless as well.

Neil was great. He was more serious than I expected, but at least he spoke and wasn't condescending.

Which leaves Joe. They could have just put a sack of potatoes with some eyebrows in his chair with a recording that said "yeah" every once in a while. Seriously, he had NO personality and said nothing of any help whatsoever.

True, but the sack of potatoes wouldn't have suckered, I mean drew, thousands more tweens just so they could stare at those "dreamy" eyebrows or whatever.

You might want to read up a bit on what she's been through, and perhaps reserve judgment until you have more to go on than what little you can see on a television show.

I was with my sis doing tax stuff. Her daughter's moving out and we went to see the "new" apartment. Kinda reminded me of some of the less-than-desirable places we used to have to get sis out of in Winston-Salem when she was a troubled teen...
