Two bad weeks in a row got her. If she would have picked a more likeable song, she would have stayed in. Our comic relief has now left us! Good luck Kellie!!!

Isnt that Simons Supposed favorite song she sang.....I told my wife soon as it was announced she will be bad and Simon will tear into her....SHe has and decent voice not great but the song has to be just right for her and I think we saw it the last 2 weeks....I still thought she would make top 3 on her being son fun and likeable and so darn good looking

How about Andrea Bocelli's performance tonight...he's in a whole different league than the Idol contestants....

My son said "I can't understand what he's singing, but he sure is singing it good".

First time I had heard him sing....not a fan of the music but he has a great voice.....

Bye, Kellie! I'm going to miss you. You've made this season of AI interesting to say the least. :thumbsup2

I'm thrilled for Kat and would love to see her in the final two! :goodvibes

Katharine pulled her dress AFTER the button popped.
Yes. She pulled it out of the way so she wouldn't trip over the edge of it.

Wow.... top two yesterday... that's great for Katherine!

I agree that Paris has an exceptional singing voice (her speaking voice is annoying), but, IMO, she sings with no, absolutely no, emotional connection to the songs.

Lack of emotional connection to the songs they are singing seems to be a particular problem with this season's top finalists, IMO.

To a point I have to disagree with the no emotional connection. Yeah she blew it big time on the Queen song and to a lesser degree this week with TWWW. But honestly, the girl hit it dead on with her version of These Foolish Things. I still think that was the best performance this season and it's the only one I've downloaded onto my computer.

I'm not a big Paris fan but her singing voice is amazing.

Okay, first thing I'm putting on my moderator hat for a friendly reminder. If we keep getting comments calling posters "ignorant" because of their musical tastes, this thread will get locked down like it did last year and some people may lose their posting priviledges. Music is subjective. You like who you like. If we all liked the same artists, well, the world would be pretty boring and a lot of DJs would be out of work because we would only have one radio station. You do not have to agree on who the best is, but you guys WILL be civil and respectful about it if you want to keep discussing - 'k?

Now, on to Taylor. Sandy22 - the more I think about it, the more "dirty" this is seeming. Not dirty as is changing votes but dirty as in manipulating.

Twice now Taylor has been made to change his song choice with less than two solid days to practice - last week and the country week. Both weeks seemed to be his worst performance and its easy to see why. How much practice time could he have gotten with the band during that short timeframe? And what the heck is with calling "Try a Little Tenderness" not acceptable because Bocelli probably wouldn't sing it but the Bryan Adams song that Chris sang WAS acceptable. :sad2:

He was thrown into that "you have to choose sides" childish nonsense by Nigel with no warning after last year allowing Bo to be neutral.

They did a horrendous job with lighting and stage effects on him last week. It made him look like a cross between the walking dead and captain kangaroo.

I know that TPTB want a male rocker winner this year and they want it to be Chris. I've also seen where they want a male/male final. I think they are seriously worried that Taylor will take this competition and while they can't manipulate his votes - they sure can manipulate how the public sees him and can manipulate his performances.

I guess I was the only one that didn't notice Katherine's wardrobe issues...silly me, I was too busy listening to her SING. I thought she looked beautiful. I thought the dress was a little tight on her back but if you've ever watched any red carpet event it seems all the celebrity gals squeeze themselves into too tight dresses...(really people...is size zero NOT small enough?) Anyway...I thought she was great. I was really disappointed in the judges. I usually agree with Simon, but thought he was way off. I was happy to hear him apologize to her last night. I was REALLY happy to see her in the top two (whether it was accurate or not...I could see it boost her confidence). And I just don't get all the comments about her lacking emotion. To me she is the most natural performer on stage. Off stage she always seems so happy and excited to be there. I think her reaction to the judges tongue lashing on Tuesday night was completely warranted. I was as shocked as she was. I thought she handled it well. She might not win (trust me...they want Chris to win, so he probably will)...but I will be buying her CD as soon as it comes out and I know she will have a successful career. Go Kat!!!

I don't find Taylor versatile at all, or better. He can sing the goofy, fun songs and that is it. He has shown a few times exactly how unversatile he is. Of course, again, those people who LOVE Taylor will think he does everything really well. Those who don't LOVE Taylor won't.

Vocally, I would now put Taylor at the bottom of the remaining contestants.

Thanks, we needed that!

Good post with your comments about manipulating...while they can't "fix" the voting they can influence the voting. Hopefully the majority of us can see through it and continue to vote for who we like.

I also did not notice Katharines wardrobe malfunction, I did notice a bit of leg at one point and was a bit surprised but I didn't see a flash of panties or notice the button pop. I tend to listen and watch their face more than the whole body..or just not watch at all after the initial camera shot, so I probably miss a lot. Just like I never noticed Chris's head tilt until this week..I had to watch after all you guys talking about it here.

Hopefully now that you noticed it you won't spend his entire performance like I do willing his head to straighten back up. :rotfl2: If I could reach through the screen I would..lol.

And on the subject of connecting with a song. I wish Chris could somehow soften his face when he sings love type songs. He still looks so harsh mad when he sings like this picture from the other night. Would you guess he was singing about love?

No..he actually looks like he's thinking "let me just get this song over with so I can get off the stupid stage"

I think you are exactly right on that. They can manipulate how anyone is seen and the judges comments after the performance are more about shaping people's perceptions than they are about giving an honest appraisal of the performances.

because I thought she might have had another week to hang in there due to fan base. It does amaze me that she had never been in the bottom three until the week she was voted off.

I think Paris should go next week unless one of the others really bombs. I laughed at her comment that she had never been in the "bottom two" before.

Taylor - my man, kick it back up a notch. He is the only one who hasn't been in the bottom but as we know, that doesn't make one safe from the "boot".

I still want to see a Taylor/Chris final but Simon wants it to be Chris/Katharine.

One other comment - I can't believe that Simon recanted in such a huge way. Although we all know that Whitney was huge in her day, I think most people have lost so much respect for her that it doesn't hurt a contestant to sing one of her songs as long as the song isn't butchered. (which it wasn't) Katharine did not try to sound like Whitney at all.

Well I knew before the show started that Kellie and Paris would be the bottom two, but I thought it would be Paris going home.

Tonight was really weird though. Usually they do a bottom three when there are 6 people left. And they have never mentioned who the top vote getters were. Maybe there was a reason they said that?

I honestly don't think Chris and Katharine had the highest votes. They were number 2 and 4 on dial idol, and I seriously believe that Taylor had the highest amount of votes based on all of the threads I see on all different forums. I think that they're just trying to make it seem like dial idol is wrong, so when the finale comes along and Taylor doesn't win (because it really seems like Simon doesn't want him to), people will already think that dial idol results are wrong. So they won't think that the results were rigged from looking at dial idol and seeing that Taylor was way ahead of the runner up.

I really wish dial idol was around during Clay's season.

I think I agree with you on this one. I thought that was odd. And the way the judges tried to act like they suddenly realized that Kat wasn't that bad was so fake and contrived.

I have to agree, too. I DO believe that they were wrong about Kat that night. I thought that she had a super performance, and I thought that they were off on their comments. However, for EVERY ONE of the judges to apologize like that was strange. Also, for them to do it in such a big way with a big apology was strange. For Ryan to make the comment about the calls to FOX was strange, too, to me. I just found it all a bit weird. I wondered what was up with it all.

Well, I was one of those that never noticed the 'wardrobe malfunction', at least not until 29 y/o dd came over and made me replay it....over and over. I kept saying, "I don't see it, you're nuts". Well, I was looking at the top of her dress, not the bottom. When dd pointed out my mistake, I said that it must be her panties. We can only hope that is what we saw!!
But, I digress.....I think the time has come for AI to go with two different shows. One for the younger set..ages 14-20, and then one for 21-30. There is no way these young kids can compete with the older more experienced voices. Paris has a terrific voice, but no life experience to go with it...that will come. Katherine has a wonderful voice, but I think the cards are stacked against her.
Chris, imho, is just okay. I just don't see him as a great talent..I like him, but I would rather listen to Elliot!! Taylor is funky, fun, but a bit out there.
This is the first time that we will not be going to the concert...even my 12 y/o dd has said she just doesn't care. We've been the past two years, but not this year. I'm not all that 'into' any of the singers, and, sad to say, I do think there is a ton of manipulation going on. And I hate being manipulated!!! So, they get none of my money this season. We haven't even voted in 3 weeks!!!

Awesome. His voice is AMAZING. Not even a comparison between him and the Idols (although they still have pretty darn good voices).
