American Idol Season 14 Official Thread

It's Back to the Top 11 Show.....Again

Ah! It’s the 80’s Show! After last week's surprise save, we are still looking at a top 11. At least, 11 will become 9 tonight.

And we kick off with Hoff and Karma George-meleon! The Hoff is NOT good. What ARE we in for tonight??? ((shudder))

  • Baby Face Seavey – He wasn't even a glimmer in his parent’s eye during the 80's. It really doesn't matter what Daniel does. The teeny booper Idol fans will be voting him safe.
  • Quentin – Big Hair Quentin is back! Oh wait. It's his big coat collar. LOVE the coat, LOVE the performance!
  • Joey – And we're back to Cabaret Joey tonight. I have been a Joey fan but this was not good tonight.
  • Tyanna – There were some flat moments in her Whitney impersonation but there were some real note gems as well.
  • Jax – I think she nailed the modern re-take of the 80's tonight. She nearly always seems to do something fresh and original every week. LOVE!
  • Nick – Eye candy. Ear candy. SWEET!
  • Clark – The key is G for Good, Great and Gorgeous. He might be singing Police/Sting but there is something quite Billy Joel-esque about Clark tonight. Pure Class! The best of the night for me tonight.
  • Qassim – I know they saved you but I do wish they had let you go. It's going to take me a while to get that top note screech to stop hurting my ears.
  • Rayvon – More falsetto, more pitchy notes. Another predictably boring false-too performance tonight.

Adanna and Maddie are the two eliminated tonight. Based on last week's performances, there were no real surprises for me on cutting both of them. Idol is still on track for a male winner this year.

The best of the lot for me this week include Clark, Jax and Quentin.
I keep wondering if it is time for Daniel to leave. This week is no different. Is it time for Daniel to leave yet?
....Although....I suspect that Qassim, Rayvon and Joey might also be down the bottom of the pile as well.

Okay some idol news on a former contestant since I know there have been a few fans....

Chris Daughtry is set to guest star and write original music for a new fox pilot called "Studio City"

The former American Idol contestant has boarded the cast of the network’s dramedy pilot Studio City, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Inspired by the life of showrunner Krista Vernoff, the hourlong pilot tells the story of a young singer’s (newcomer Florence Pugh) path to stardom as she comes of age living with her songwriter father, Rob (Will & Grace alum Eric McCormack), who turns out to be a drug dealer to the stars.

Daughtry will recur and play the role of Keith Rhodes, a drug-addicted rock star. Additionally, the lead vocalist/guitarist for Daughtry will also write original music for the dramedy.

Daughtry joins a Studio City cast that also includes Heather Graham, Jeanine Mason, Riley Smith, Samantha Logan, Jordan Calloway and Timothy Granaderos.

Vernoff (Grey's Anatomy) will pen the script and executive produce the Warner Bros. Television dramedy alongside John Wells and his studio-based John Wells Productions exec Andrew Stearn. Sanaa Hamri will direct the pilot.

OK- I have heard 4 of these. Typically I have on Rock or classic rock, not any station that would play her type of music. I wish Clark would pick something one week other than a slow song though!

I think judging by the songs the idols chose the songs that they could choose from were shorter then her normal catalog. Hopefully he does do something upbeat next week with it being a modern theme. We shall see though, I know upbeat doesn't always translate well on a show like this.

...Daniel is gonna sing one of my favorite Clarkson songs....he is gonna MURDER it....and not in a good way.
