American Idol Season 13 Official Thread

Harry sounds like he has a sore throat.

And I have to say while she was singing my first thought was "wow, she could actually win this thing"

You know she is one where you feel like she actually wants it. Don't make me quote Randy. ;)

A lot seem like they're just singing for the night, in my opinion.

I MISS JIMMY! :lmao: THEY NEED TO GO GET HIM FOR ME.

Mandy, Luke's concerts must be, absolutely must be ;), amazing high energy, eh? Not a huge fan but he must put on quite the show.

Very much so. His concert was pretty much non stop energy the whole night minus a few songs.

:thumbsup2

"In it to win it"?

Like her or not, she seems like she's following Randy's little saying.

Like others have said - they really let some talent go, it's unreal that there are little or no WOW performances. On The Voice, they happen every single show. Frustrating.

The whole CD is great, I'm ready for the next one.
Ditto :) Huge Lady A fan here. Which made listening to the CJ/Jessica/Dexter fiasco version of "Compass" quite painful.

And hey, Mandy, I think you're in the Nashville area. One of my local favorite bands just moved out there so if you ever see Built To Be Broken is playing somewhere, you should check 'em out. If you watch The Voice, their lead singer, Benji, was on a few seasons back. They're genuinely great guys and their music ain't bad either.

Huge too, it was painful.

I am! I'll look them up for sure! Always on the hunt for new music.

Another overall underwhelming night. I did like that the contestants chose good songs for the others.

My top two: Caleb and Alex

My bottom two: CJ and Sam

I rarely post much, but follow you all on this thread. :) Love reading your comments! I never really watched The Voice until this year, but always watch AI. I am shocked at the level of talent on The Voice, as opposed to AI. Any one of The Voice contestants could win AI, with the level of talent AI has this year. Is it me, or does it seem like they are choosing AI contestants based on "types" rather than talent?

Two comments:

Jena absolutely OWNED it,

and

WTH was Terry Bradshaw doing on last night's show? :confused3

Your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea why he was there. Also trying to figure out why Demi Lovato was there. She wasn't a mentor or anything...just a waste of airtime as far as I'm concerned.

Another thing I want to know is WHY the close up face shots of JLo when people are singing. Last night I was listening to Alex and out of the corner of my eye saw Jlo's face on the screen..and not just a quick flash. So I started to watch a little closer and it seems like every single song they focus on her and that pouty lipped thing she does.

....guess that X-Factor thing didn't pan out, soooooooo.....popcorn::

I've commented on this several times to DH. Its an ongoing thing - maybe she has something in her contract that she needs to have camera focus x number of times per show.:rotfl2:

I think shes very aware of when the camera is on her and very conscious of what faces she is making.

I've noticed Keith noticing the camera too, but he seems to be more kind of nervous about it - quick glance and then look away.

I'm thinking since I've read that this season or next will probably be the last for this series in decline, Demi might be asked to be a judge for next season (if there is one.) The salaries being paid out and the cost of the new set with the lowest season ratings ever, make for a desperate attempt to save this snooze feat.

...not a lot of Voice fans around here... but I AM!! :yay:

The Voice contestants sing better in the shower than any of the contestants on AI this year.:rolleyes1 Yes, I think they pick TYPES, but so does the Voice so that CAN'T be the reason. BTW, they had a SLEW of talented contestants that they left at the airplane hanger in Hollywood, and kept THIS motley crew....

Completely agree with you on the comparison of the talent on The Voice vs. American Idol. I'm another one who just discovered the Voice this year, and love it! Dare I say that after almot 10 years, I may be switching TV loyalties.

I stick with them both, though I enjoy them on different years. Season before last on the Voice irritated me and I loved AI at the same time. It always depends.

I was sent an ICount survey comparing the two. I had to agree that both choose favorites and have in their minds who they want to win from the start. This has always bugged me but I've decided to just enjoy the show instead of trying to figure out what's behind it. The voting, imho, is more of a marketing ploy than an actual compilation of who is better and who is worse.

I will miss tonight's elimination show so I will have to hope for the best for Sam and Alex. I get to hear the best of real music - Bruce Springsteen. I love his music and his concerts are epic. I can't wait. Bruuuce!
