So far its reminding me of old Idol, less focus on the back stories and bad auditions and more on the contestants who can sing.

....her dog died saving an old lady from a tree after she climbed it to save a family of orphaned kitties....this happened the day after the family car blew up when it crashed into the facade of their home, which, btw, was foreclosed upon.....still cynical?

I guess I'm the cynical one, the whole story seemed like a ploy to get sympathy. And not a great sob story either. I know we've come up with better ones on this board in the past.

Yeah I didn't quite get why the whole county fair thing was mentioned. Why not just say he had a heart attack? And I had never heard of who she opened for...not sure why it was mentioned.
