Not just P2 effect but it's also quite a fairly large market sometimes even if you don't make it far on the show. Its just matter of preference.

I just feel that sometimes the guitar over shadows the singing because I start to focus on that instead of the voice itself.

Agreed Nancy. I don't mind it in the semifinals and what not but auditions maybe not so much.

Not to mention a portable instrument that usually doesn't detract from the singing.

They do show a LOT of blonde females auditioning.
