American Idol: Season 10 PART III

I'm surprised at some of the negative comments about country music and even Lauren and Scotty. It sounds like a bunch of jealous kids on here- I didn't know adults could be so childish towards two talented young people:sad2:

apparently they can't even be complemented on without it being twisted around....to suit someone elses vendetta.

Haley got her share of negative posts. Mostly that she seems like a witch or full of herself, she can't sing, and she's uncoordianted (piano fiasco) etc...

What I see with Lauren and Scotty are mostly the country Idol/Hee Haw jokes etc...and the only thing that I thought wasn't very nice in all of it was when someone called Lauren 'Miss Piggy'. :(

I was just thinking about something... regarding the beginning of last night's show. I'm sure nothing was wrong with it, but didn't that whole bit - bringing out the doctor - smack a little of an invasion of privacy. Lauren Alaina even looked a little uncomfortable. Someone could legitimately project the idea that perhaps she was brow-beaten into agreeing to the disclosure, the need for it impressed on her so as to preclude a scandal associated with arguably ridiculous paranoia about the show not disclosing in advance that she'd been given some meds. I wish things were such that they would have just gone on with the show, saying nothing more than, "Don't worry; all is okay; respect Lauren Alaina's privacy; time to move on."

I distinctly remember someone way back during Hollywood being anti-James because they didn't like his attitude or his facial expressions (caused by Tourettes).

ALL of the Idols have had their fair share of negativity AND positivity. Nobody is universally liked in the entertainment industry. Nature of the beast. When you are in the "arts" you are putting yourself out there at the mercy of the public.

Invasion of privacy? no. They would have needed her parents permission to disclose medical information as she is underage.

What it smacked of to me, is STACKING THE DECK.

the whole night was somewhat odd, from the dramatic illness to the rushed format.

...I missed the memo - when did they change it to American Country Idol?? :confused3

when fans of the 2 country singer outvoted the fans of the not country singers. ;)

I'm stoked but I love country. There's going to be a few others i'm sure.

me too,...I can't wait for tonight's show and hitting the occasional mute button if James is singing a screeching song.

The whole mama song was somewhat contrived as well.

Yeah, I can understand knocking the voice or the singing..but I don't like name calling and pictures that make fun.

Haley apparently is cutting a single already:
Does Haley Reinhart already have a record deal?

According to the "American Idol" Top 3 finalist's parents Harry and Patti, who are fast becoming a treasure trove of key information, she has already recorded a single and plans to debut it on the season 10 finale this Wednesday.

Dad Harry revealed at a concert held at Haley's alma mater Wheeling High School that the song will be used as a barometer of sorts, to "test it out and see what happens" after Wednesday's finale.

"She likes the song she's doing, and we hope you like it too," Haley's mom told an audience of several hundred gathered to support Relay For Life, adding that her "little spitfire" rejected two compositions before settling on the tune.

No one in the Reinhart clan is crying over Haley's elimination, either. "No. 3 is pretty darn good," said Harry, pointing out that "you don't have to be so tied to the company that way."

All "Idol" finalists are optioned to 19 Recordings and Interscope Records, should either company wish to sign and release their music.

In other Haley Reinhart news, Lythgoe strongly implied that the third-place finisher will release a record with mentor Jimmy Iovine, who leads Interscope-Geffen-A&M. He wrote, “Jimmy played me a song for Haley’s record yesterday. Let’s hope all the people that are professing love buy it and give her a great start,” wryly referencing the fact that Haley Reinhart supporters have aggressively ripped Thursday’s results announcement.

I'm watching because my 91 year old FIL is hoping for Scotty , and it's nice to see a coupla decent kids up for the win. I'll be at a sports banquet tonight so will not be watching it live. I watched last night and actually think it is maybe harder to have 2 same style contestants to vote for than 2 different ones.

I agree, it would have been nice to see 2 different styles up there. I do think that was missing.

As much as I wanted both of them there I am thinking that maybe having the final be last week would have been better. Dancing With The Stars does a final show with 3 couples, I think Idol should have it be final 3...makes it more interesting.

I've never said anything negative about Scotty or Lauren. I've only said that I'm not a fan of country music. And I live in a house with a DH who loves it! I don't that think not liking country music (or any type of music) equates with jealousy. And if you think the comments about Scotty and Lauren are harsh, you must not have been around int the past couple of weeks. The comments about Haley would have made you :faint: I can talk with you for hours about adults being chldish! ;)

and you'd be right.

the whole night was somewhat odd, from the dramatic illness to the rushed format.

I thought it seemed weird too. I remember other years being so much more and it isn't just due to WHO was in the finals. Even the Fantasia year and last year was better.

Absolutely. I mentioned that in my post-show wrap up last night. The PANDER ain't just a giant Chinese raccoon.

:rotfl: I missed that. That is what happens when you just read quickly to get through all the pages.

:rotfl2: I thought the whole doctor thing smelled like a big publicity ploy by the producers. I feel like the powers that be have wanted Lauren to win from the beginning and I think the voice "scare" was just another way to swing some votes her way. I bet Idol feels the need for another Carrie Underwood since the last few Idols haven't had much success, even my favorite DC.

If I watch tonight it will be to see James, Paul, and Casey because I hate country music with a passion equal to Nancy's dislike of Adam and James screeching.

Yeah...just like Nancy said a few posts ago...the name calling and pictures of *******es and fat pigs -and a "mayberry" themed picture a while back...That's not childish??? Its what elementary kids do to each other. And yes I read Haley's negative posts also, but she's not a minor--Lauren and Scotty are high school kids--I just think it's pathetic.

Like I said, "I'm sure nothing was wrong with it."

What it smacked of to me, is STACKING THE DECK.
Okay I could see that too. It sure seemed inappropriately detailed and over-dramatic.

Just to be clear, I did not single out any particular picture. It's all been friendly here and I like everyone who posts, even if we don't agree on the singers all the time. :hippie:

Perhaps I don't know as much about Country music as I should, but, heck, are Scotty and Lauren Alaina actually singing to the same body of fans? Within rock music there is a clear distinction between mainstream rock and hard rock. While some folks will listen to both, and there might even be some folks who like each equally, the two genres within the overall label "rock music" are sufficiently distinct, and releases are, to some extent, aimed at different audiences. It seemed to me that there are similar divisions in Country music, eh? And that Scotty and Lauren Alaina are actually in different subsets. No?

20 may not technically be a minor, but I can tell you this - if I ever heard someone talking about my 20-year-old son or daughter in that manner, they'd have to answer to me!
