American Idol: Season 10 PART III

Uh..I disagree, it takes more than a good manager. Weaklings will be chewed up and spit out.

Agreed. The weak ones are more subjective to the outside lures of things that will help them thru the insecure times, also. Lots of real evil "managers" out there, you've got to have a real strong will to survive it.

As much as I love Scotty and his voice I wish he had done more modern or well known country songs while on the show. More songs like "The River" or "Gone" would have been awesome!

His performance live this Saturday in Garner (where I live) was astounding. His voice is actually much better than what we hear on TV. He reminds me of Garth Brooks in concert. He's funny and can get the crowd wound up, but then can sing a real serious, heartfelt song. He was truly amazing and I'm glad I went. I can't wait for him to record his OWN music and hear the quality of that CD and live performances.:yay:

....still.reeling.from.Thursday's.results.

so my coworker just came over to share these 2 Idol updates:

Apparently Pia and Mark Ballas form DWTS have broken up...SHOCKER!
AND......according to a statement from Joe Perry of Aerosmith, since the band does not have a current reason to do a promo show, such as an album about to release or a tour, they will NOT be on the Idol finale..ok, now that hurts. That was the only reason left to watch it. I hope it is in an incorrect rumor, but more than likely even Aerosmith sees what a train wreck the finale will be, that and maybe some bad blood still going on.

Randy gave the hugest gift to Haley when he singled her out and not going to the final 3, he knows the reverse psychology and also knew that they need to pit 2 girls in there. Just guessing but since a country finale is not the best idea either, Scotty or Lauren will go home (no matter what the voters say).
What a bummer on Aerosmith, guess they didn't want to bother if James wasn't gonna still be in the running, lol.

ETA: She heard the updates on the radio, no idea which station but we are in Chicago

I don't think Randy is that good an actor. That sort of thing could easily have backfired in his face and not worth taking a chance. And we know that Jennifer is certainly not that good an actress;)

Neither of them are capable of making statements that they thought of themselves. The producers make ALL the decisions.

The entire choice to march them onstage and stage that fiasco is a choice of TPTB. They knew what they'd it would do to every person who has not been picked for softball. :lmao:

I remember a few years back how they put up that big lie that Kat, Elliott and Taylor Hicks split the votes 33/33/33. No way in heck. But it got people riled up and their claim of 30 - 70 MILLION votes is a marketing ploy for advertising money, nothing else.

I think the "dawg" part is unscripted. :)

so, the types who cannot take negative criticism then?

Sorry, I'd expect a person who defended themselves to a trio of inept "judges" a better fit for the industry than an insecure crybaby. No one fought with the judges more than Jennifer Hudson and I'll bet she's still feisty today with her Oscar.

of course it is all scripted/produced/whatever....pretty sure during the dry run everyone knew what was going to happen..I find it interesting how many fell for it , that the main point being how the contestants sang went completely out the window for so many and all the focus went to horrible terrible Randy comment.

Jennifer Hudson took on her battle with more maturity and professionalism. AND she had the talent to back it up.

Might I point out that this year's thread (and last year and the year with Adam) is MUCH less about who we "adore" and much more about the system and who we "don't care much for"? :confused3

I missed the days of adoration. Even when there was a disagreement everyone looked forward to their person every week.

Last year -- Not much love for Lee or Chrystal, LIKE but not much love. :rolleyes1

The year before there was LOTS of Adam HATE, very little "what's his name" love, but he won anyway. :confused3

I just WISH AI would give us ONE bonified STAR!! :woohoo:

I think he needed help in the regard that David Archuletta looked like he was going to win more. Cook had to get a lot of people to vote for him to beat out all of the tweens voting for Archuletta.

I really don't think Simon ever showed that he wanted anyone to win:laughing:

i do believe that simon actually apologized to David Cook at one point. AI was very much pushing Archuletta that year.

and the next year, they pushed Adam Lambert. i didn't watch last year.

I guess we have to agree to disagree. I thought she sounded ghetto and I still don't like her voice.

Hi all ! I just found this thread so I hope you don't mind that I jump in here.

I've got a little experience (drummer) behind me. I've performed all kinds of music.... from 60's rock, jazz, country, metal and almost everything in between. I've played in small clubs, parks, concert venues and done some recording. And No.... I'm not famous or played with any groups 90% of you have ever heard of, but I have experience. ;)

Here's my thoughts.

As I told my DW..... AI will never be a talent contest. It is a popularity contest, nothing more or less.

If it was a talent contest then Adam Lambert would have won hands down.

If it was a talent contest, Pia and James would be competing for the final this year.

And as far as Haley is concerned..... she can sing but her attitude towards the judges while they are speaking to her is horrible. I'm not sure why she is still there but I congratulate her for making it this far.

Over all, I think this cast has been hands down, the best ever for AI and I think all the credit goes to the new judges. :worship: The talent is so much better without Simon, Paula and Kara there.

Out of the three left, I think Lauren will have the best career in the business and then Scotty, then Haley. Pia will be even bigger. And Casey will do well. But it all comes down to the studio they sign with and their money grabbing agent. :sad2:

I am enjoying this year..... a lot ! popcorn:: Lets hope the next two weeks are as entertaining.

right, as many here have all kinds of contestants they didn't care for but the( as you know better than nyone given your career) promoting, who you know, yadda yadda yadda is what makes it happen. If the contestant misses the mark connecting with the audience and all of the viewing audience, they are not going to go far once the show is done. Actually, things like this thread are what keep them alive, good press/bad press/ is still press and that is the name of the game...most of it is no longer about any talent as your other post touches on ( btw: Kris Allen)
It would be awesome to have a standout all around contestant actually make it to the finals more often, but doubt it's going to happen.
