JAMES: (Don't Stop Believing) Great song choice...a bit "done to death", but it could be great for James. A solid start....a bit drown out by the backup singers midway...but overall a fine performance. Maybe a bit subdued by James standards. But nice.
HALEY: (The Earth Song) I actually like this MJ song...from MJ. Let's see if Haley can do it any kind of justice. The opening is weak from the get-go. I do like that this isn't some hoochie song for a change. She sounds like Jimmy Durante...there. I said it. It's not so much that this version was bad, it was just odd.
SCOTTY: (Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning) Scotty plays the guitar AND goes for the 9/11 heart strings. Smart kid. Dip him in the egg batter and country fry us up a country superstar in the making.
LAUREN: (Do it Anyway) I love her dress...she lookd fabu. This is a great song for her. just let her stand there with the mic and feel the song. This girl really can circles around Haley (and many others). Well done m'lady.
HALEY: (I Who Have Nothing) Well this should be interesting at least...Gaga even! Theatrical for sure. Not bad. Not bad at all.
SCOTTY: (Young Blood) I actually love this song. Loved when Bruce Willis sang it on his Return of Bruno album. It's a hilarious song. This is a wee bit creepy, this performance. The eyes. The mic holding. The fey wandering around the stage. He's no Bruce Willis, and frankly this night may be his undoing.
LAUREN: (Trouble) Wow. I like this persona on her! It's the first time I''ve seen her have fun. It was a hoot. Good for her.
JAMES: (Love Potion #9) This is either going to be super awkward or fan-friggin-tastic....It's actually kind of cool! I dig the rock arrangement. His pants are so tight! OMG I adore him "playing" wit the guitar players at the end. The only true entertainer and showman in the competition, hands donw. Dig it.
For me, the weakest of the night was Scotty and based on performance alone he should go. I think Lauren may be the one though.
