Liv Tyler didn't even know Steven was her dad until she was practically a tennager. Liv was raised by her mother and her step-dad, Todd Rundgren (who is another famous singer). She met Steven when she was a young girl and also discovered her other sister, Mia Tyler, who looked strangely like her. They both have different mothers.

I was entertained! Gotta love Steven and I didn't hate JLo at all! I actually think they worked really well together. Good vibe.

Great chemistry between the judges and I like 3 better than 4. Looking forward to more.

I watched last nights premier more for the entertainment that comes with all these IDOL auditions. That fellow from Japan ... He says he has loved Michael Jackson since before he was born and then does a Miley Cyrus song ... That girl from Springfield, MA who lives and breathes for Brittany Spears (that they let through).

Jenny on the block needs to let up on all that glittery eye make-up.

S. Tyler was ok but I really miss Simon.

I agree with the PP that said they let soooooo many through.

After watching that 2 hour show, I did not see anyone that I thought was Idol material at all. I hope this is not a repeat of last season.

I was really surprised at how well the judges worked together also. I am glad, because I was thinking I might not want to watch this year, but I am hooked again!

My favorite was also Travis Orlando at the end. I love his voice!

I liked last night's show more than I expected. Steven Tyler was good. It will be fun just watching him this season. I also liked the guy that they ended with. I know that we haven't seen that much yet but I think he has that 'it' factor.

I thought Steven Tyler was HYSTERICAL. I think watching him this season is going to be very fun. I did not realize he was Liv Tyler's Dad. Good thing she got most of her looks from her mom .

No one really jumped out at me as a "wow, they are REALLY good" but then they never really show the really good ones.

Me too!! I love Aerosmith, but wasn't a huge fan when I heard he was a new judge. I was pleasantly surprised! I'm actually looking forward to this season. But, I do miss Simon.

I watched the show to see how it would be and am glad I did. I enjoyed it, and liked Steven Tyler more than I expected that I would. I'm also enjoying the chemistry between the three judges.

I think I may be the only one who doesn't miss Simon. For the last couple seasons the judges have just gotten on my nerves. I started taping the shows so I could skip over everything they said. Last night I really enjoyed the judges as much as the contestants. Even Randy seems different and hasn't annoyed me (yet ). So far, so good!

The problem I have with Simon being gone is that he was the only judge that really knew what he was talking about. Sure, some of the contestants were good singers but they were not recording stars and that is what the show was about. I look at that rocker/nurse from a couple years ago and people kept talking about what a one trick pony she was-well, that was her style and she was VERY good at that type of song--no different then an AC/DC or KISS or Aerosmith, etc. I think that the 'theme' weeks were stupid. So what if a country singer can't sing a rock song, they aren't rock singers. That will probably make this week more enjoyable. The only contestant they have had on in recent years that COULD sing across all the themes was Adam Lambert.

I didn't watch last season (still glad I didn't do it). I hadn't planned on watching this season, but there was nothing on last nite, so we put it on. DD and I were pleasantly surprised! We may stick around.

We really liked the girl that sang the broadway song, OMG, should could belt it out! I did feel that a few they went through will not get far in Hollywood at all (I think Simon would have said no to lots that they said yes too!)

I really enjoyed last night's show - Steven Tyler was very funny and I think he is going to add alot to the show. Jennifer Lopez is just adorable and I have missed Paula (believe or not) so I feel as if Jennifer is a good judge for this year. Simon can not be replaced he is an icon and really did have great incite on what was necessary to be an American Idol. This looks like it is going to be a great season. Last year was actually the worse I have ever seen.
