All in all? Talent wasn't the best....at least not the ones they showed. Judges were Awesome. Loved that ST could be a little snarky but nice at the same time. He was very polite but told the truth for the most part. Cant wait to see him on the live shows.

The are going to eat the little NC girl alive in Hollywood. Either that or she will be not so nice after all.

bingo...we have a wind up doll in the neighborhood like her...nick-named the cavity because she is SO sweet...anyway, she has quite a bitter side when she wants to and usually no guilt when she decides to not be so sweet,,,ruthless at times. Would not surprise me a bit to see the sugar wear off.

I LOVED the whoe thing! No amazing standouts but it's early, and I did like the guy early on with the longish wavy hair. He was the second or third singer of hte night. Cuteness and a good singer.

I was entertained! Gotta love Steven and I didn't hate JLo at all! I actually think they worked really well together. Good vibe.:thumbsup2

Steven is a very funny guy.
"I think you've got the what-it-is-ness"

Great chemistry between the judges and I like 3 better than 4. Looking forward to more. :)

So, I always try to keep up with this thread, and I never can, but I'm signing in for season 10.

I think they let too many people through on this show. Ready to see the new guys toughen up a bit! I love Steven, but I thought there were a few creepy old man moments.

A girl I was in choir with in high school will be on tomorrow night's show. She's the lips girl that was in the preview tonight. Fun!!

Ok, here's hoping I can keep up this season!!

wow 18? was it her choice or hers to not drive until now??

i was definatly already driving by 16, but i had a job and my parents didn't feel like driving me around to there and other places since they had jobs and things going on, too.

Just getting back on..but her choice. I think she is really only learning because she has to if she wants to get around. My oldest didn't get hers till after 18 too. The middle one..had that permit right at 16...now at 21 hardly ever drives and doesn't really like to. I don't know WHERE these girls came from...not like me at all.

also...what's with all the 16 year olds?

I think they hinted to that last night. I am going guess that this year they want a "youngest American Idol winner ever" theme. They said it with the 15yo. (wait, did they lower the age?? I thought it was min. 16 yo.?)

They said "At 15, could she be the youngest American Idol winner ever?"

I say they are putting a lot of 16yos through to stack the odds in their favor that they get the "youngest" winner this year.

I am so frustrated with myself!!! I feel asleep last night about 45 mins before the end of the show...did I miss anything? If so where can I watch the rest of it...believe me I will be making sure that I DVR no matter what!!!

Perhaps they feel they can make more off a Beiber age winner? Not as much bagggage to hide? Offer jobs to educational tutors while they miss school? Nah...all about the quick texting skills of all those pre-teen/teens out there ;)

I agree that I was suprised at how many they let through BUT, looking at Mandy's new format mentioned Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on the thread, it seems they will be spending a lot of time whittling that number down. I donow how many are going to Hollywood in total, but it's probably way more than the udual 100-150. They will whittle the Hollywood gang down and then send them off to Las Vegas to whittle them down again.

I thought Steven Tyler was HYSTERICAL. I think watching him this season is going to be very fun. I did not realize he was Liv Tyler's Dad. Good thing she got most of her looks from her mom :lmao:.

No one really jumped out at me as a "wow, they are REALLY good" but then they never really show the really good ones.

I loved Steven Tyler too, I am back on the idol train this season.

I also liked the guy Jennasis mentioned up thread, he was good, the one steven rocked with

Our kids know one of the contestants so it will be fun to see how far he makes it. All we know is that he made it to Hollywood. We aren't even sure where he tried out or if we will see him on the try-out shows, etc. Hopefully he made it far enough that we will see him.

So glad they didn't focus on Seacrest yesterday. I can only take so much of him. I can't stand his "THIS.................................................................is AMERICAN idol.

My favorite is Victoria Huggins (the sweet, southern girl) and Travis Orlando (the last guy with the sob story)

I really liked it! DH didn't like that they didn't show enough bad singers :lmao: I loved the chemistry between the judges!!! Steven Tyler cracked me up. I really liked Robbie Rosen!

I don't know if this was mentioned, and I'm sorry if it already was, but did anyone notice that at the beginning (new intro) when they show the past winners, they showed Adam Lambert? Not that I'm complaining, because I certainly think he should have won that year, but he didn't :confused3 that was weird to me...

aw. i loved Steven Tyler!!!! he is so funny. i'd like to see more of his funny side.

i think JLo is the "Paula" though, just not drunk or drugged. she was filling the sweet role.

Randy is cracking me up. i don't remember him being quite this funny. he was funny before, but last night, he was hilarious. maybe he's loosened up now that he's the "big dawg" and out of Simon's shadow.

hula, i noticed the Adam Lambert thing as well. i didn't think he was really all that successful though. if they want to show a successful non-winner, it should be Chris Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson.

I thought Steven Tyler was HYSTERICAL. I think watching him this season is going to be very fun. I did not realize he was Liv Tyler's Dad.

Liv Tyler didn't even know Steven was her dad until she was practically a tennager. Liv was raised by her mother and her step-dad, Todd Rundgren (who is another famous singer). She met Steven when she was a young girl and also discovered her other sister, Mia Tyler, who looked strangely like her. They both have different mothers.

Liv Tyler looks like a beautiful version of Steven. You can see a resemblance, but its amazing he could produce such a good looking offspring. :lmao: Its like if you took his image, then cleaned it all up into a pretty version, very weird though.

I am also back on board the AI train, was off for some time, got boring, but with ST and JLo, I think this sseason will be worth watching. I enjoyed last night, thought the singing waitress was probably the best so far, no one they let through that I absolutely hated, some mediocre, but its early. Would also love to see a lot more interaction with ST, he is a terrific rock star, almost a stereotypical prototype version of what a rock star should be.
