John Stevens has to go!!! Oh my gosh, it was painful to listen to him last night! He is terrible! If he is not in the bottom 3 (and hopefully voted off) something is fishy. I think the bottom 3 should be John S. Camille and Jennifer Hudson. Thankfully Simon even owned up to how bad John was.

I totally agree with the top post. John Stevens has to GO! He can't sing a variety of styles. Simon seems to love him. I'm glad last night Simon spoke up and told John his performance wasn't good! I was very happy Simon finally told the truth! The performance was horrific.

I agree. I feel sorry for him, because he is young and seems to be a nice guy, but you can't sing an entire song off key and expect to get a lot of votes.

Unfortunately it's a popularity contest and not based on singing...it was prooved last week with Camille. Based on last nights performances John S should go, but he has a large fan base, lots of teen girls, so it will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

I live near E. Amherst, NY, where John lives, and when I was shopping yesterday I noticed flyers up everywhere asking people to vote for him and giving directions on how to vote more than once (speed dial, etc).

I think he was pretty bad yesterday. My DH has the funny idea that Simon bet Randy and Paula $$$$$ that if he liked someone who was really not that good, that they would get into the final ? (10 or 5???), just based on his telling the audience that he was good.

I hope he goes tonight, but Camille and JPL have to go too. I think the real competition won't begin for another 4-5 weeks. Then we'll see Jasmine, Diana, La Toya, Fantasia & George go at it!

I haven't liked John Stevens from the beginning. Or JPL for that matter, but his dancing cracks me up.

George Huff, another who was never a fav, just blew me away last night! Motown was definitely his genre and he gave me goosebumps. AWESOME!

I'm ready to get rid of the "not as talented" and get down to business!!

I agree with everyone. I think the reason he weirded me out was because of his personality... or lack thereof. He always seems emotionless. Last night's performance was terrible. Let's see what America thinks!

OK, I'm going to probably get flamed for this, but wouldn't it be correct to assume that Motown is an African-American genre? Without question, the best singers last night were the African-Americans. I thought Jasmine was very good, but not nearly as good as Fantasia, George and LaToya.

I think JS will be gone tonight, but I also think there's room for him somewhere out there - just not as a pop star.

John can mimic Frank Sinatra well, but he has to grow into that voice and talent. Loved George and Jasmine, and I also like the girl with the pink hair, but can not remember her name. I am embarrased to saw, with all these reality shows (AI, Apprentice, Gay/straight) I don't watch cable much anymore!

I think John, JPL, and Camille should be the bottom three. I think Camille should go first though. I agree that John was painful to watch last night, but IMO Camille has been painful every performance. Although last night was bad, at least he has had some reasonable performances. Camille is beautiful, but when she sings it actually hurts to look at her because of her grimace.

I completely agree. Out of the 3 weeks they've done so far, 2 of them are more suited for them (soul and Motown). It's pretty obvious that the producers want it to come down to Latoya vs. Fantasia.

I definitely don't think John Stevens should go tonight. There are so many people that should be going before him (Camile, JPL, Diana, George...). He had one bad performance, unlike someone like Camile, who has been consistently bad. I know John seems to have a lot of fans and I really hope they come through for him tonight.

Yes~ Motown was started by great African Americans. However, I do not think that it is can be limited to people of that racial background. I think Americans are past stereo typing music genres by linking it to race. However.. it is true that the performers who made Motown famous were very talented Black/AfricanAmerican,therefore it is easy to connect Motown with people of that particular racial background.


some good examples of AI singers that can ''do'' Motown...I thought Amy and Jasmine did well with the Motown theme. I think that Matt could have pulled off the Motown theme too. Hec, Clay Aiken pull off Motown! but then I do believe, I do believe..

I agree with disykat. John was horrible this week but Camille hasn't been good at all, any night. I have a feeling that she may go tonight because of past performances and not just last night. My co-workers and I were discussing today wether the voting is supposed to be based only on that nights performance or the performances as a whole. What do you think?

I think that since the producers/judges pick the genres and not every singer can sing every genre, the votes should be based on the performances as a whole. Remember in Season 1 when Tamyra was voted off becasue she had a poor song choice. No way she should have gone before Nikki. And we see that Tamyra went on to Boston Oublic, records deals, etc. Nothing for Nikki - it's the entire package not just one nights performance.

ALSO - I think the judges are giving way way too much praise to Fantasia. I cannot stand her. Last night she turned her back to the cameras in a contrived effort to interact with the band. It just bothered me and distracted the performance. But I don't like her voice anyway. I think the judges are praising her more than they should and it may be influencing some voters. JMHO.

I do not know what it is about George that everyone likes so much. Hes a good singer and seems like such a nice guy, but I find him so dull. I love Amy and Jasmine and La Toya.. all of them have great stage presence and super voices.

I don't think it would be "fishy" just a matter of who likes him and who votes for him.

BTW, the same kind of promotion is going on for Diana here in Georgia but I doubt if a town full of eager teenagers can put a dent in millions and millions of votes. And SHE was in the bottom three last week!

I like John S, but he was so OFF this week. I do hope he gets another chance because there are some that are so much worse than he is.

As for Fantasia, you either like her or you don't. I really do. She is cocky and confident, the kind of in your face attitude most people don't like but I appreciate. She worked the band instead of trying to scream over them like some did.

I think the bottom three will be Camille, JPL and maybe John S or Diana. This one is not as obvious as the first two competitions, so I'm looking forward to it.

As for the genres, I'm sure they were pre determined based on the guests and judges and many other requirements WAY ahead of time.

That's what I don't get with the show. It's a giant popularity contest. I guess, in a way, that's what being an idol is....but then again, maybe that's why I don't listen to 90% of today's music. It seems to have very little to do with talent and a lot to do with looks (and pretty scampy looks at that).

For what it's worth...I'm only watching because I'm met John S a few times and I'm stunned that somebody so quiet (in person) can do what he is doing. He was not very good last night...there were a couple others that were pretty bad too. I've caught the other Jon (is it JPL?) and I don't get how anyone votes for him and there's one other girl that was quite awful the 2 times I've seen her too. Is it Camille? I actually liked the guy that left last time (Matt...he was fun), the girl with pink hair and George (I've caught him a couple times and he seems fun too).
