I love Steven Tyler, but I do think Harry Connick would have been a MUCH better choice!!

Tyler will be mildly entertaining. I won't mind watching him. JLo is obnoxious and self serving IMO. Would have LOVED Harry Connick Jr...drool. And where have I been? Why is Kara leaving?

The only music person I despise more than J. Lo is Jessica Simpson. I'm an Aerosmith girl at heart, but Steven Tyler being on isn't going to make me want to watch the show.

I give the show one more season before it's KAPUTZ... no simon = crappy idol.

Harry Connick, Jr. was the first person I thought of who would be a great replacement for Simon, and I haven't thought of anyone else who would be better. He knows the music business (been in it from childhood), would have been very entertaining with his sense of humor, and isn't afraid to tell the contestants the truth. How could the Fox executives not realized what so many of us have? Well, maybe they did and he turned them down. I have to hope that's the case. JLo makes about as much sense as Jessica Simpson. Terrible, terrible choice. She got lucky and had a few pop hits about 10 years ago, along with several flop movies. Yeah, that's who we should go get! Good move, Fox. I don't know enough about what Steven Tyler brings to the table to make any judgments about him. Let's say I'm cautiously optimistic.

I think the new judge lineup is very cool. LIke I said on the other thread, i am not a JLO fan, but she is something of an icon, and not a crazy drunk or pill popper like Paula (at least to my knowledge). However i adore Steven Tyler and couldn't be happier about that.

I think they are hoping to rescuscitate idol by throwing big names and big talent at the show. I bet we will see lots of big name mentors and huge glitzy production values. At the end of the day though it's about the qualityof the singing talent.

I think it doesn't matter who judges AI. Someone I know tried out last week and the producers told her they were looking for a Justin Bieber type this year.
