Goood Afternoon!!!

I was talking to a friend about the American Idol Experience at the MGM Studios (Im old school) and was wondering if anyone had had ago? Any success stories???

I remember in 2009 I autiditioned and I think they were more polite than anything!!!!!

I remember reading a Kevin Stringer trippie a few years ago & the son of their friend took part. I think they all had tickets to watch. Don't think he won but I believe he was approached by some music person afterwards. If I remember correctly, the songs were chosen for them & the other two singers had more well known Disney type songs.

DD's done it twice and DH once! I had to be DD'a chaperone, so I got to see all the backstage stuff. DD got to the final both times, she didn't win but she got great feedback from the judges who weren't so kind to some! The first time they showed a video that they'd taken at the time of her audition of all of us goofing around. It was even shown outside the theatre. DD loved it she felt like a star. people were asking for her autograph and saying that they were big fans of hers!! both DD and DH had a great time doing this. If I can answer any specific questions just ask away!! :thumbsup2

I would totally love to do the American idol when we go next trip"if we actually even get to go on holiday at all":lmao:

I can sing but im a little shy and i would worry about them picking the song for you :( i have a few disney songs that I totally love to sing!

I havent even managed to see the show yet!!! as the boys always want to do other stuff,I will get to see it this yr.:thumbsup2

You should go for it!! :cool1: They don't pick the song for you, you get to pick two songs from a list that they give you and there are several Disney songs. The best thing to do is get to the audition person in the park early, the earlier you get the the more song choices you have (you can't choose one that someone else is already doing) You can sing anything that you want to for this person, they will then decide whether you can go on to the proper auditions where you sing in front of the producer.

We've been to see this a few times and love the show

Last year a girl from England won her heat and got through to the final - she was fantastic!

Later that evening we were both in the Photopass shop near the entrance to HS and we got chatting. I asked how she had got on in the final and she told me she came 2nd. She said a few of the staff members told her not to raise her hopes of wining as the prize is a guaranteed pass to the American Idol auditions and you have to be a US citizen to enter so she couldn't use the prize anyway.

She said she had an amazing time and would definitely do it all again

That's funny because that is what someone told DD when she was in both of her finals...funny thing is she is an American citizen she just lives in the UK! She said that if she did win she'd just givew the ticket to whoever she thought should've won! :thumbsup2

if you make it to the finals do they send you home with a video or anything?

does anyone know if they have "colors of the wind"

Is it your whole day gone if you get through? I would love to try out but I don't want to miss a whole day of park fun!

Yes - they have Colours of the Wind - my daughter sang that in the final two years ago, :)

The photopass photographers take lots of photos and give you a card, but no video or anything. We normally sneak one of our own, although you are not supposed to! For each show, one of the performers has a video made (like the VT I posted, and we were "encouraged" to video it ourselves as it was being shown!

It's not your whole day gone, but it does take a chunk of your time, especially if they choose you to be the person that they video for the live performances! if you get through to the final I guess that it takes about 5 hours out of your day, obviously not in a row! It's a lot of fun though! :thumbsup2

It also depends what time show you are in. The audition itself can take about an hour, as you wait first to sing acapella to a producer once you actually get inside the building. Then, if you are successful at that stage, you go to the green room (which is red?!) and are given an mp3 player with the songs from the song list on, and asked to rehearse two of them (as long as they haven't already been chosen - a list is on the wall of "taken" songs) to sing to another producer. About half an hour later-ish (in my experience) you go into another producer to sing your chosen song, karaoke style with a backing tape and lyrics on a screen. At this stage Ryan Seacrest appears on the screen and tells you if you are through to the next stage or not!
If you get through, then you are given a time to come back - an hour before your show - for make up and hair, singing lesson from the lovely David, and a rehearsal on the stage with the stage manager. And if you win your heat, then you have to come back in the night time for the final!
You know when you've got through the audition, as the producer always asks if you are in the park all day, and do you have any plans for the night!!!!
It's a great day - very exciting. :dance3:

I did this, twice! It takes a huge chunk out of your day at HWS but it is a LOT of fun.

wish there wasn't an age restriction on the real show, I think I might have had a shot!

:rotfl:

we popped in to watch American Idol only because it started to chuck it down and up till then hadn't been at all bothered about going to see it. But we both really enjoyed it, plus you get to vote. I have huge admiration for those of you that have stood up there to perform..scary stuff:) I am void of any vocal talent what so ever so would never go for it myself..that would just be cruel to you all:laughing:
