I was scared away for fear of being yelled at for not posting about AI.

One must always stay on topic!

I'm still here and reading. Had a boring weekend really. I got some rough news about my 9 year old cousin who is developmentally delayed and autistic being hospitialized trying to stablize her rage. I spent quite a bit of time crying in private places so my dd's didn't see.

I did listen to the radio stations that play "pop"/ up to date music (which I hate) hoping to hear DC. I didn't.

It sucks that it's Tuesday and there is no Idol on. Grr. Everything stinks. :headache:

I'm so sorry about your cousin. Hopefully they will be able to find some way for her to deal with her rage and live a somewhat normal life. Autism has hit so many families, the pros are finally coming up with ways to deal with it.

Wow, I'm sorry about your cousin. Yes, autism seems to be everywhere, now! My son's best friend until this year is autistic. They were friends from the 2nd to the 8th grade. Michael was the only one who could handle his rages... the final blow came when he directed all of his disdain towards Michael and totally blew him off.

Michael was so hurt by this, mostly because he was this boy's bodyguard for so many years. Lots of middle school kids aren't as forgiving of his behavior and it can be so sad....

I wish they had answers for this... it seems to be way more NOW than when I was growing up.... must be something -- whether it's the vaccinations or what someone has to find out how to control this, and hopefully without all of those mind altering medications... :furious:

Prayers for your cousin and her family, I can only imagine what they're going thru.. :sad1:

Ever the diplomat, you're not going to weigh in on MEOWfest? :duck: (I like that new smiley!)

I guess everyone is out grilling, since it's so quiet in here. We got back from WDW this afternoon. I'm exhausted. It's way too hot to spend that much time outside. We won't be going back until DD's birthday in August.

My sister's BF was doing the grilling yesterday. We didn't get to eat until 8:30.... It was warm here but not too bad. Sis got burned from spending Sunday at the beach. I didn't go; didn't know they were going. Not that it mattered, I hadda work....

I think I'm gonna stay outta MEOWfest.... She's just Quest's other woman, that's all.... :duck:

My friend's DD has Asperger's. Her doctor had an interesting theory as to the increase in especially that type of Autism. Asperger's is characterized by high intelligence but very low social skills. With the advent of the computer and computer related careers, these people that normally wouldn't have socialized with others are now doing it through computers (whether internet chat or working on them together.) So before people who would not have married, are and are having children who inheirit their traits.

As for the meds, when you see the pain your child goes through, you will do anything to fix it. If they have diabetes, you'd give them medicine to control it. I see it as the same thing. Meds have helped my friend's DD and mine function better. It is not my ideal situation, but it's better than what we were going through.

...I hope that everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend...we were in upstate NY.....

Ok...is it just me or does anyone else think that Kim Caldwell's hair smells like Barbie doll hair? That plastic smell? Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I crazy.

I guess when one LOOKS like a Barbie doll......

Wonder where autism came from. Is it a recent thing? I've only heard of it recently. Used to, all you'd hear is asthma. Guess this is the new millenium's asthma.... :confused3

Wow, that is one HECK of a theory.... the up and downside of the internet...

I do understand that medication ARE necessary in some instances, what I wish is that they worked just as hard at finding the cause and cure than finding the band aid. I had a horrendous illness back in 1998... no one could diagnose it but they had me on so many medications it was amazing. Turns out it was just my eating habits... two years of suffering went away with two weeks of changing dietary habits.

The same with my son. He would go from hyperactive to sleeping in seconds. He couldn't focus on his work and was falling back in his grades and even had to be retained in kindergarten. The same doctor who changed my diet suggested I take him off white sugar. The problem DISAPPEARED. He's 15 now and an honor student. I had teachers asking me what happened... I wish the answer was the same for other people.

Turns out he was allergic to JUST ONE of the chemicals they use to turn sugar white. Amazing. My problem was separating proteins from carbohydrates.

My younger brother has asperger's. He is a lot better than he was when he was first diagnosed four years ago. He is very smart, but does lack a lot of social skills.

I'm going to clip that baby on and meet him in Disney. The next thing you guys will hear is DC doing a Madonna cover.....
"TruBlu, Baby I love you...."

TruBlu - you said you had emergency surgery a few weeks back. Would you care to share the real truth with us, now that the show is over? :rotfl2:
OK, you figured it out....
We named him Mavid Brooke Archuleta Cook

Mavid - for the hotness that he got genetically from DC and me.

Brooke - because he cries all the time.

And Archuleta - because he keeps making a boom-boom in his pull-ups. :crazy2:

I love the holier than thou attitudes of some people. He's fine to make that decision, and the people who put in millions of votes for David Cook are fine to not listen to his channel or to not buy Sirius at all.
