We are checking into the GC on Saturday June 11, we will be driving from Mesquite, NV that morning. My DD8 would like to go to the American Girl store. Any ideas on roughly how far or how long it could take to get from the store to the Grand? Any information is appreciated! Thanks.

AGS at The Grove? I would give yourself at least two hours. Traffic around that part of L.A. is a little frustrating. Even though the distance might not seem very bad, the traffic will eat up your time

OK, thanks. We will be driving in and when I checked on mapquest it said 45 minutes, I guess we'll find out! Thanks!

It all depends upon the traffic when you're driving. Are you eating in the cafe? (It's real yummy, if you are.) There's a lot to see and do with the shops in the Grove and the Farmer's Market across the street. You'll have a great time!

If you have never been to the store before I will warn you - it will suck a ton of time and $$$ It is an incredible store and the whole Grove area is really nice but some girlfriends and I spent 2 hours and over $100 at the AG store and we didn't even have our daughters with us :scared1:

You daughter will love it - have a great time!

There is also a tour that you can take, the price wasn't all the crazy but it took you to the Grove for about 5 hours. The only reason we did it was because I was terrfied to drive in LA so it was nice just sitting back and relaxing, going to AG and all the great stores (and a celebrity siting ot two) then having someone else drive back. Have a great time.

The I-5 can be such a nightmare in terms of traffic. I'd check the traffic on sigalert.com (or call 511 in the LA area) right before you go and consider avoiding the I-5 by taking the 91 to the 405. Since those highways have carpool lanes it can be better, though there could always be an accident somewhere that could cause a jam. At least the traffic should be better on a Saturday compared to a weekday.

Good luck!

Do you have any information on this tour? Who operates it? What is the cost? We may look into this, thanks.

When we went a couple years ago it was called the LA Shopping Extravaganza (lame name but fun tour), it went to the Grove and to some outlet mall and cost something like $40 for adults and $25 for kids. The only one that I can find now with that name just goes to the outlets and some knock off alley. I will do some searching, we booked it all threw Expedia and I can't for the life of me remember the name of the company.
