I've been there. Sometimes they have great stuff at great prices. Other times they have just great stuff.
The doll clothes tend to be more geared for the AG Girls of Today, although occasionally there will be historical doll stuff.
I don't know where you are from - have you heard of the AG summer sale which happens in Madison which benefits the Madison Children's Museum? It is a crazy event, but a lot of fun.
info on the sale is: click here
My DD, who is now 12, is sadly out of the AG stage.
My understanding is the shop in WI is an outlet. Many of the discontuned things are there. Once I found this out it made so much more sense that all the ebay sellers for Angelina Ballerina and Hopscotch Hill dolls were from WI!
I really wished I lived closer, my DH almost took a job the Univeristy in Madison 7 years ago. I would love to go there. (DH wouldn' love me going though.)
The American Girl Places (stores with a cafe, stage show and other things) are in New York City, Chicago and now a new one in L.A. just opened last month. I havent' been to one yet, but I can hear the one in Chicago calling my name sometimes.
yes, we went to AGP last weekend and bought my DD a bunch of stuff AGAIN! we love this place but it's sooo far for us to go, so we figured we would check it out in WI depending on the location!
