We'll be in LA at the end of Oct. Our DD8 and DD5 love American Girl Dolls. Has anyone been to the American Girl Place? Any advice or suggestions to share? How long will it take, any nearby attractions? Thanks!

Hi! I took my DD's (5 and 10) there for the first time in June and they loved it!
(Best piece of advice...bring lots of $$$$$$$-lol!)
We made advance reservations to have lunch at the cafe as well. The restaurant is decorated pink and black and they give you doll boosters so your dolls can sit at the table with you (if you don't have a doll they have loaners). It is pricey but we probably won't be back there for a LONG time. My girls loved having a 'fancy' lunch with their dolls.
We probably spent over an hour in the store before lunch. It is so fun to see all of the doll collections in person.

The store is located in a great shooping center called The Grove with tons of stores and restaurants. Check out thegrovela.com. I wish we would have had more time to spend there (we did manage to spend $100 at Pottery barn kids though :rolleyes1 ).
The Grove is also just a few blocks from the La Brea tar pits. I haven't been there in years but I loved going there as a kid. Educational but very fun and interesting for kids.

Also nearby is Grauman's Chinese theatre with the El Capitan Theatre and Disney's Soda Fountain and store across the street. It's just a fun place to walk around and check out the Hollywood walk of fame stars.

We went during our trip in April and loved it too! We could not leave without getting a doll, outfits and many accessories :D You really need to book ahead for the lunch if you are planning to eat there (it's pricey!).

If you go to americangirl.com you can see prices and menus. You will need reservations. They did away with the musical revue they used to have. We saw it last year and it was great. The Grove is also across the street from Farmer's Market, with lots of places to eat and more meat markets than you'll see in your lifetime! LOL
