Hi -

I was hoping to get feedback on Nicki. Her hair looks hard to manage to me but DD really wants her for Christmas... any thoughts, experience with her?

Thanks!

My dd hasn't had any problems with her hair. Her grandmother gave her the hairstyling dvd last year and the hints and tips on there have helped her with the curls. Right now she has her hair in cute loop braids :)

We just got Nicki for our DD. Her birthday was on the 10th. She got the doll and her horse.
So far, so good. The box or a paper inside, I can't remember which, says to use a pick or comb and not a brush to keep Nicki's hair curled.
She is a really cute doll.

DD also has Marisol. Her hair still looks as good as it did when we bought her almost two years ago. American Girl dolls really hold up well.

We got Nicki last April on a girls day in NYC and by the time we got home it was a bit wild but it is manageable. But that was after she dragged her all over the central park zoo and a 4 hour tour bus ride home.:)

It's funny you ask this, because I just ordered the AG hair pick for this reason. DD6 got Nicki in September and her hair's a wreck. Of course, she's been dragged around, slept with, etc. The hair pick helped, but her curls still don't look like they did at first. I wasn't sure whether to be really gentle (which didn't work all that well) or really go at it and risk pulling some of the hair out. Anyhow, if you get her, go ahead and get the wire pick or buy one somewhere else, since you aren't supposed to use a brush.

My 9 year old got her last summer. After a few weeks of her very gentle care, the curles were looking a bit wild. The AG Place ladies told us to take small bunches of hair, wrap it around your finger and mist with water. Gently pull your finger out and you'll have a perfect curl again. It took her a while to do the whole head, but Nicki looks as good as new and she doesn't have to be afraid to mess up her hair, it was easily fixed. My dd is 9 so it wasn't wild, just a bit frazzled from being played with. Don't be afraid, it worked out great!

The big think we learned about at the AG boutique was to use a pick and mist the hair with water. Don't soak the hair but never try to pick or brush it when dry. I was worried about Nikki but honestly the curls come back pretty easily.
