Well I just broke down and did it and ordered Mckenna for DD (8) for Christmas. DH and I had said no more dolls because we have Baby, Twins, Lanie, Julie, Samantha and My American Girl already living with us. She is our only child and hard for me to resist. I think she is drawn to the gymnastics theme of her. Hopefully she arrives in time (she is on B/O until Dec 12) and is the excitement I am hoping to see when she finds her Christmas Morning.

My mom is going to give her the big present we had already purchased. ( A big Lego set) so no addition to my Christmas budget that way:)

Thanks for Listening and Happy Holidays!!

I ordered Mckenna as well for DD for Christmas. I ordered on nov 1 when she was back ordered until dec 7th. I was very happy when she shipped out way early!!! She arrived last thurs, so I think you should get her in plenty of time :) she is a very cute doll, my DD has been carrying around the catalogs for weeks saying if she only got one present she would want it to be McKenna, I was suckered at that point and knew McKenna was coming to our house this year. DD is in 1st grade and even made a collage of McKenna pictures for a school assignment lol. Have a great holiday :)

I don't blame you for buying another doll. Your daughter will only be young for so long. She probably won't want dolls after a certain age, so let her enjoy them now. Take lots of pictures of her smile on Christmas morning. :)

DD is begging for McKenna as well, but she is completely out of our budget this year. I don't think dd will really mind, but I'm saving up for Julie next year. DBF isn't going to be happy, he thinks this is a little silly, but shh! Pretty soon she'l be too big to play with dolls anymore.

I have a feeling when DD is old enough we are going to have like 10 AG dolls on top of my 2 from when I was little (Molly and Kirsten).

She's only little once and McKenna is a great doll. :thumbsup2

McKenna is great! she is living with us.....her and Molly McIntyre...DD wants the McKenna bedroom set, but theres just no way.... We did get her the expanded McKenna doll set with extra outfits and accessories though.

DD currently has Lindsey (mine), Lanie, Kanani and a Just Like You (that looks just like Samantha), but I still got her the McKenna starter set for xmas.

McKenna is currently in the basement, while the rest of the things slowly come in, off back-order. :)

She will be 12 next year, so I know her time is limited with the AG dolls, but that is ok.

Now if only Saige (the 2013 Girl of the Year) wasn't about a girl that loves horses... :rolleyes1:laughing:

I bought a just like me doll for my DD last year for exactly the reason mentioned already - she's only going to play with dolls for so long, so let's take advantage while we can. She's 10 and still plays with her dolls often (the AG dolls and one other baby doll that she's had for years). Let's keep them innocent for as long as possible!

Oh, there's no such thing as too many American Girl dolls! Just ask my friend whose daughter has almost every single one of the historical characters. No joke.

My DD is getting Mckenna for Christmas too, she already has 4 others but to me, I don't care if she wants one for every birthday and Christmas! She loves dolls and before I know it, she'll outgrow them. There's something sweet about a young girl and her dolls isn't there? My DD's get played with every single day so it's worth the money to me. Some of them are starting to look a little worn, or should I say loved. It reminds me of that darling children's book "Dahlia".

OP, don't feel silly for a moment about getting another AG doll. And the Mckenna one looks gorgeous with all that silky hair.:thumbsup2

That's the thing for me ~ if DD didn't play with them anymore, I wouldn't even consider getting another doll. But she plays with at least one of them every day. :)

Exactly. And my DD plays with them like they're real which is so cute! She'll say things like "mommy did you know Lanie broke her ankle today" and so on. I love that kind of imaginative play.:thumbsup2 Of course I'm expected to play along too so I make sure to comment on how nice Lanie looks or be sure to ask how that ankle is doing!:rotfl:

Good for you ladies! I wish they stayed little for longer! It is so sad how fast little girls are growing up these days! I never had an AG Doll, but my SIL (30 ish) said she received her FIRST AG doll at age 11 or 12 and her friends were receiving them at that age, too. It seems like now (at least im my neighborhood) most girls are done by 11 or 12...:(

I am buying some AG things for my 10 year old (she already has 6 dolls) including the Winter Chalet ($$$$) which she really wants. As for the accessories and outfits, I am substituting the Target brand this year as I fear this may be the last year or two for dolls at my house and we already have tons of AG stuff.

Anyone out there have girls older than 12 still wanting AG dolls? Just curious.

I played with mine at least a few times a week until I started high school. I'm 27 now and I still have my 2 dolls and can't wait until DD is old enough to play with them. I think that's a big part of why I'm fine with buying a lot of AG dolls for DD. They can easily get passed down to future kids :)

My daughter is getting a second just like you doll this year. She wanted a red head for some reason... These dolls are addictive! I even bought a used one off ebay for myself so that I could play with her!

Agreed....extremely addictive!

I am the OP and must have forgot to mention that DD hardly plays with the dolls. Although the last few days she is obsessed with Bitty Baby and has named her Athena??? Not sure why?
But they are so beautiful and she just likes to have them around:)

My DD got McK for her birthday in July, for Cmas she's getting Caroline and maybe her first My American Girl!

If she likes Saige *Girl of the Year 2013* she'll get her for her next birthday.

So am I "Mean Mommy"? DD6 has been begging for an AG doll since this time last year. Last year the budget wasn't there for one because she has a little brother also and a WDW trip was in the works for her birthday in January. She got a Journey Girl doll (TRU) for both Christmas and one for her birthday. Played with them some and now on any given day I normally find them lying around on the floor in her room. I can't justify paying that much $$ for a doll that won't get taken care of. Of course, everytime we get a catalog its sighing and whining for days. :scared:

We just started with Bitty Baby 2 years ago for DD who is now 6. She got Kanani from Santa last year and has some other babies too. Her and her 2 1/2 year old sister play with the dolls all the time. This year she is getting an AG doll like her and her sister is getting a bitty baby. I also bought McKenna and have her put up for her March birthday. I figure they both love playing with them so much and they are awesome dolls, what the hell.
