Your daughter will LOVE this place! My DD6 (she was there at the age of 4 and 5) was in heaven. She loved the store, could have spent the entire day there! In the cafe for lunch and afternoon tea, she felt like such a princess....they really treat the little girls great there! Make sure your daughters bring their dolls with them to eat in the cafe...they have a seat and place setting for each doll at the table!!! It is so darn cute.
she is upset because we are going the Rockettes in November...and I couldn't get lunch reservations there again this year..... oh well, there is always next time!!
I just spent the weekend in Chicago with my Dsis, Dniece Samantha, and her cousin and her mother for Samantha's birthday at the American Girl Place and it was so nice! I just am thankful that I have a boy!!
For the entire 4 hour trip up to the city, Dniece and her cousin had their dolls, Samantha (naturally) and Kirsten riding shotgun...they even had to watch the Samantha movie with the girls. It really was too cute!
My Dsis had made reservations for a birthday dinner party at the AGP and the girls (all of us) really enjoyed it! Dniece received a button as birthday girl, napkin rings were hair scrunchies to keep, the birthday cake was so pretty...all white with the hot pink ribbon frosting just like a gift box and tasty, too! Each person at the party received a nice gift bag containing a lip gloss, pen, notepad shaped like an AGP tshirt, key chain/notepad, stickers, and another hair scrunchie. The girls went through every nook and cranny of the store practically...need to get their dolls hair done, but didn't have time, so the bought the hair care kits. Between the two girls they spent almost $300 on accessories for their dolls...they both have an AG doll and Bitty baby each and want to add more to their collection.
I overheard a couple of dads talking while waiting for the girls to check out who said, they (AGP) had the marketing down for the stores....located all the cashier stands at the back of the store (on each floor) so you had to wade trough the entire place to get there. I said, "Heck, even Sam Walton didn't figure out that one..."
I assume the one in NY is the same as Chicago, where they had a theater to see the AG productions (live shows), a portrait studio, all the merchandise you can imagine for the dolls (AG, itty bitty, hopalong somethings, and the one you chose the eye, hair and skin color), clothing for the young ladies to match their dolls, a hair styling salon for the dolls, and a doll hospital where they repair injured dolls.
Like I said, after spending several hours in the AGP this weekend, I was so thankful I had a son, cause I could see how the dolls could practically bankrupt a parent. But, IF I did have a daughter I'd have to buy her Molly...I just think she's so spunky! I also like Nellie after seeing the Samantha movie on the road to Chicago...fiesty little girl.
