American Girl Codes

Is there any time of year that you will find american girl codes. My middle daughter just mentioned that she would like one and it would be a good x-mas gift.

I'm watching too - I have 2 DSs but DNiece asked for the Nicki doll for a combo gift for her b-day & Christmas - with shipping it's $100 - ouch! I did buy her Josephina about 2-3 years ago & was hoping that was a once & done thing. Who knew...

I wouldn't wait too long as being that Nikki is the doll of the year and once the supply is depleted that is it.

DD got Marisol a couple of years ago from my dad for Christmas. He purchased it in late October. When his friend went to order her for his granddaughter around Thanksgiving she was sold out.

My daughter doesn't have any American Girl dolls yet, but would love one for Christmas. I would love to get a coupon. Do they come out often? How do you get them? Anyone ever order one from ebay?

There is usually a $10.00 off code or free shipping around the holidays. The girl of the year for 08 is a 70's doll named Julie. Nikki will more than likely last through the end of the year, I think Marisol is the only one that sold out and she was popular due to being a dancer I think (plus I love her face mold, like Elizabeth's).
The dolls on Ebay usually bring pretty good money, so you may want to buy new. Then if anything is wrong you can send it back. I got a used one (supposed to be like new) but there was a glog of glue on her wig, which would have been not acceptable AG standards, so she may have been rewigged, I had to Downey her hair to tame it as well, I only saved about $30.00 so I should have gotten a new one.

My dad was really excited to get Marisol for DD because she was a dancer, and the only other Latina doll (Josephina being the other one). I was shocked that she sold out. AND all of her accessories! We wanted to get her some dance outfits but they were sold out in November. We will be getting her the new ones that just came out this year.

Actually, Julie is a new historical doll, so she won't be the girl of the year. I'm not sure if they will do a girl of the year and Julie, but I would assume they will continue the girl of the year trend since it is so popular. Julie is due to be released in September, so we should see her soon.

Keep your eyes peeled for codes, I really want a Nicki.

I get the clothes for DD's either on sale from American Girl or from a local craft mall. At the craft mall I can get really cute items for a lot less! A really cute hula type costume with the top, skirt and flip flops was only $12. A swimsuit is $5. DD doesnt care and its great for stocking stuffers.

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. Every year we buy the american girl movie on DVD. Both of my kids almost 6 (girl) and 8 (boy) always enjoy them and watch them many times. They always in the past have come out the first tuesday after the movies air and all 3 of them so far, (samantha, felicity and molly have had a $10.. off coupon in them. BTW this years movie will be about KIT and the movies air around thanksgiving.
I would like to get my dausghter a NIki doll because she looks like her but I decided to do the My disney doll tea party instead when we go to disney because she will get the 18 inch doll to keep, it's her birthday and I was able to pick up an extra day weekend work at time and a half to pay for it.
My daughter currently has 2 knockoff AG dolls from our generation at target. My friends daughter has 2 AG dolls- the real kind and the only difference I can see is the real ones have more combable hair. So far though my girl has been quite happy with the fakes (maybe because she's only almost 6 )

BTW this years movie will be about KIT and the movies air around thanksgiving.

Just an FYI there is not a movie release this year. Kit will be a released in movie theaters in July 2008.
