I just want to mention that we just got back from a long 22 hour to Florida from Toronto.
I have to say that American drivers are wonderful. We look I-95 and found people do not hog the left lane and when you come from behind them - they get out of your way. People really obey the speed limits.
Canadian drivers really need to learn a thing or two about driving. The funny thing is as soon as we reached the Canadian border (QEW) - there were Canadians hogging the left lane & speeding like madmen!
It was a pleasure to drive in the US!

That is such a nice thing to post. We aren't usually complimented on such things.

Wow, thanks. I can't believe you drove I-95 and have anything good to say.

We were coming from Buffalo/Niagara Area going back to Detroit in a 35 ft RV and were passing you Canadians doing 65 mph!!! Most of the drivers in Canada drive really really slow!

You also obviously didn't drive through Maryland either.....

Are you sure that you are talking about us?

Actually, I have had very little trouble on I95 on my trips south (except for New York) and other than the length of the trip, enjoy it also. However I travel the northern part of I95 at night and the southern portion during the day.

I do agree with Torontogal though as I went to St Georges, Quebec several months age and I was the slowest thing on the road by going the speed limit.

FL almost passed a law to make it illegal to go the speed limit (?!) or below in the left lane. In other words, to be in the left, you'd have to be speeding! Oddly enough, it was called the "Road Rage Reduction Act" (seems to me it would legitimatize a lot of road rage by speeders who feel they own the left lane). The problem with FL is that there are a lot of slow drivers because so many of them are confused tourists. It made it through the legislature, but Gov. Jeb vetoed it.

Makes PERFECT Sense!!

Michigan has tons of confused (tourists and elderly snow birds) and they often are in the fast lane, doing 60 MPH!! On an adverage day down I-75 through Detroit, you WILL get passed at 80 mph....

Or I-94 during rush hour with all that stupid road construction for Super Bowl . :rotfl:

We drive 95 to Florida all the time and think it is great. That is probably the nicest drive we have. Now we take 95 to the north and it is a nightmare but anything from Va down is a piece of cake!
