American Cheese--orange or white?

I grew up on Orange Kraft American Singles. But now my husband will only eat white american from the Deli. He says orange cheese is "government cheese", whatever that means.

I do think the white tastes better and the Kraft singles gross me out now.

Orange Land O Lakes for us. I personally don't care for American all that much but it melts quickly on burgers!

My son says the same thing, if it isn't orange, he isn't eating it.

There actually is a difference. White only here. Used to only eat orange, but now I can't stand the stuff.

Don't knock the government cheese! My grandmother used to get it at the senior center back in the 80's and she'd always give us a hunk of it. It was basically a big BRICK of orange cheese. It was a little on the sharp side, but it made excellent cheeseburgers.

I buy regular "orange" kraft cheese... I do eat any color of american cheese though. Doesn't matter to me, pretty much all tastes the same.

I always buy the white, deli-sliced American cheese to use on grilled cheese or sandwiches. I do like the orange too, but, on burgers at fast food places.
