American Cheese--orange or white?

I've been buying orange colored (looks orange colored to me) american cheese for years for my boys to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

I made the mistake of getting white by mistake once, and they won't eat it, "it's the wrong color, it won't taste the same."

So what do you buy, orange or white?

My boys are the same exact way. One time for the white cheese, after that, I make it a point to stress that I want yellow.

Personally, I prefer Swiss. American cheese is icky.

I'm just like the kids. I know it tastes the same, but I like the orange stuff better too. And sliced fresh from the deli - I don't like the "cheese food" stuff as much.

We have always gotten orange here, but I think it's NASTY. White is better, but I'd pefer not American at all. How do they know they don't like it if they've never tried it? Hmmmm?!!!

I prefer White American but my kids will only eat the orange. So I just buy me 1/4lb of white and they get the orange. So finicky

I only buy white but that is because my DH won't eat orange.
I like both however as I love cheese.

I don't like either (not a big cheese fan), DD will only eat white and DH will eat anything.

I dont' mind either really - but I usually buy 2% white american cheese. (bought full fat by accident this week - man, when you are used to the lower fat one - you REALLY taste a difference!)

Now -if I had to choose between red and green ketchup - I would only use red. Come on - green or purple ketchup? Do kids even LIKE this stuff? ( i know it probably tastes the same - but it just looks HORRID!)

Color -- literally, that's it.

I really don't care. We usually get orange, because they don't seem to make 2% and FF cheese in white.

White! When we moved to SW Ohio 11 years ago, our local Kroger store would often not have white American, and DH refuses to eat the orange. For whatever reason, the white is more common around here now. Now, if only a store would sell pork roll! Pork roll and white American cheese sandwiches, yummy!

My MIL is from England and always says the reason it's called "American" cheese is because no one else will claim it!!!

I prefer the white american but, like everyone else's kids mine
will only eat the orange. However, my 5 yr old niece will only eat white. Maybe it's a boy thing

I would rather have pepper jack! YUM!

My son isn't to fond of cheese but he will eat ORANGE on a burger and he thinks that every white cheese is mozarella...LOL! I ought to throw a piece of swiss on something for him......but then he would never eat cheese again.

Honestly I love cheese so it doesn't matter!

and it can only be Land O Lakes..I can taste the difference..and they say that food coloring is the only difference between white/yellow/orange..but I don't think so..I can taste it!
