I just did an on line survery for AA and I thought I'd share some of the things in it.

1. Every option given had me paying $10 -25 for checked lugguge. The first bag was always less than the 2nd.

2. Options were givin where I COULD pay for a seat assignment or not have an assigned seat.

3. One question asked if I would be willing to pay $200 per year to join a club so that I could always have the luggage and the seat assignment free.

This was JUST a survey but I was not to happy with the ideas they had out there.

Did anyone else get this today?

No, but I have gotten things like that from DL. You might cruise over to flyertalk.com and see what they are syaing. (and if their elite flyers got this I bet they are up in arms LOL)

I don't fly AA, as they don't have direct flights from EWR or PHL to MCO. But if I did, I'd gladly take a discount for no luggage, but pay extra? Not a chance! (I don't carry on the kitchen sink, I have a home in both areas with clothes and such at both, so the only thing I carry on is my laptop and pocketbook--and a table runner on my last trip LOL!)

At any rate, this seems to me a good way to encourage people to carry on WAY too much! Stupid, stupid, stupid IMHO.

And I tried SW once, not going to fly them again, I didn't like the no assigned seats at all.

I agree - if they're going to charge for anything, they should be charging people for carry ons. But I would embrace a system where people have to pay for seat assignments and pay per luggage. I expect this would lower the base price, and then you can decide what you want to pay for extras. I couldn't care less about seat assignments, as long as I get to sit with my wife and daughter.

I agree. They should charge everyone that brings a suitcase or extra stuff aboard. Make everyone check their large items.

I also think if they charge to check people will be trying to carry on everything. :earseek:

As to seat assignments,if they offer them enough people will pay for them that if you don't getting 2 seats together will be hard, I would never count on 3!

The base prices they were listing in the samples looked a lot like regular price to me! The add ons were just plain price increases! I know they have to do something but I personally don't think this is a good direction (I said that in the comment section). Maybe better service would be a better choice! Like that's gonna happen.

Of our last 4 trips we drove 2. At some point it is just not worth it, and I HATE to drive!

I wouldn't panic... I doubt you will see many if any of these anytime soon.
