Hello everybody :wave2: I haven't flown in about 20 years so I have some quick questions about American Airlines. Me and my family of six will be flying direct DFW to MCO. I plan on checking in on-line and printing boarding passes at home. Now my questions:

1.How do you suggest we check our bags? Curbside? Self-check Kiosk? or counter? AA charges 2$ per bag for using curb check.

2. AA says I can use the "Check bags only option" at the Self-check kiosk. How does this work? Are these machines hard to use?

3. What order does AA board their planes?

Any help would be great :thumbsup2 Thanks

Hi, welcome to the DISboards!

I fly DFW to MCO alot since I'm in Arkansas. If AA is charging you $2/bag curbside, I would go inside and check in at the kiosk or the counter. The kiosks are easy to use. You check yourself and your family in and put in the number of bags and then the agent behind the counter puts stickers on your luggage for your destination and then you take the bags to security.

I forget how they board the planes - sorry about that, hopefully, someone will have an answer for you!

Yes, American has recently started charging $2 per bag for curbside check-in. And that doesn't include the customary $1-2 per bag tip for the skycap.

You can simply go to the check-in line in the terminal. If the line isn't too long, that's the easiest option.

Or, at some airports you can use self-service kiosks. The American Airlines kiosks are easy to use. You just have to make sure you're using a kiosk at which you're allowed to check bags. You start the process by swiping your credit card — the kiosk is simply reading your name from the card; you're not being charged a fee. There's no charge for using the line or the kiosk, and the airline employees in the terminal do not get tips.

There's really no advantage in printing your boarding pass at home and then using the "check bags only" option on an American Airlines kiosk. You will get your boarding pass from the skycap, counter agent, or kiosk.

A group number will be printed on your boarding pass. The gate agent will call for passengers in the following order on domestic 2-class American Airlines flights:

1. First Class
2. AAdvantage Platinum and Executive Platinum
3. Group 1 (AAdvantage Gold)
4. Group 2 (rear of economy cabin)
5. Group 3 (rear middle of economy cabin)
6. Group 4 (front middle of economy cabin)
7. Group 5 (front of economy cabin)

The number of groups can vary depending on the aircraft and the passenger load.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Horace: I should just check in on-line but not print my boarding passes? Just wait and get them at the airport?

With American, there is no advantage to checking in online if you're checking luggage. When you check your luggage, you'll also get your boarding passes — regardless of whether you check in at the curb with a skycap ($), at the airline counter, at an airport kiosk that allows luggage checking, or with Remote Airline Check-in at your WDW resort.

You can look up your reservation online to make sure that you have seat assignments. If you don't like your seat assignments, you can sometimes get better seat assignments, even on full flights, during the week before you fly, as elite frequent flyers upgrade to first class at various time points (100 hours, 72 hours, and 48 hours before departure). But seat assignments don't have anything to do with boarding passes.

With some other airlines, especially with Southwest, checking in online 24 hours ahead of your flight is very good idea.

the max weight of your bags are now 50lbs.If the are over weight, you will be charged for it. 2 bags per person.
