American Airlines or Delta

Not trying to say you're not telling the truth or anything so disclaimer lol.
We fly Delta out of LAX anywhere from 5 to 10 times a year, and to/from Seattle almost as much. The only delta flight we have had in the last 18 months that didn't have seat back screens OR the ability to use the gogo in flight entertainment app was the 45 minute flight to Vegas.
Maybe it's different for LAX. But since the OP is flying out of there i would expect them to have screens

I have flown the LAX-MCO route and back on Delta 3 times in the last 2 years (Sept 2018, Mar 2019, Sept 2019) and have had the screens every single one of the flights. Kind of assumed it was pretty standard for this flight, but I could be wrong. I will be flying them next month on the same route again.

I fly American from LAX to MCO several times a year. The schedule is usually pretty good. Usually 4 flights a day each way. For in flight entertainment it’s a mixed bag if the seat back set is available, but the free entertainment over WiFi on your own device is available even if there is a seat back set. American is slowly removing the seat back entertainment though from it’s planes and the new A321neo doesn’t have it and that usually flys at least one of the 4 daily flights. I like those planes because the overhead bin space can hold a lot more roller boards and they have a clip device on the back of each seat to but your personal entertainment device into.

When we don’t fly Southwest, which is extremely rare these days. We only use Delta. IMHO. It’s the best next to Southwest. But a distant second. Like far distant. But Delta is the most on time of the big three. Delta United or AA.
And considering alot of flights go through Atlanta. That’s pretty impressive. Southwest. We almost always get non stop. Ohio to MCO. Or LAS. LAX also.

Im perfectly fine with themremoving the video screens from the seat backs but what I cant figure for the life of me is why those planes don't have charger adapters....thats so ridiculous...free entertainment and wifi use but no chargers smh

American has normal plugs and usb plugs on every flight I’ve been on between lax and mco in the past 3 years. All the new planes have them and most planes I think are being retrofitted for them.

Delta runs a far superior operations than American. American has been mismanaged for years since Bob Crandall left.

@diddldonna when picking seats check out https://seatguru.com/ you can enter you airline, flight number, and date and it will show you a map of the seating on that flight. It will tell you what seats are good and which ones to stay away from. It will also give you information on power ports and entertainment options.

I'm leaving from SFO this time and the way it looks to me...they don't have the plugs in the seats...Im taking a 321 aircraft...seatguru says they have no power and no video so Im taking that as no plugs

I was on a321’s my last number of flights and they’ve had both the normal plugs and usb plugs.
There are 2 a321 models (not the neo). One is the older us airways planes, and those I don’t think have the power outlets. The other ones do.

If you have kids under the age of 15, and have to pick between Delta and American, I believe American would be the way to go. American has a policy that if even with buying their basic fares your children will get seated with at least one adult. If you don't have to stick between those two, I'd recommend Southwest.

I was looking at the 4 airplanes we'll be on for our roundtrip trip this week and the 321 is one of the aircraft we'll be on. Not a single flight I'm on has power or video. Now, I'm not flying cross country so hardly a fair comparison only that it's not as prevalent as some think
Today's aircraft are (American)
Bombardier CRJ700
Airbus A321

Thursday (Delta)
Boeing 757-200
Bombardier CRJ900

I'm on the same aircraft in May (Delta) for the first flight
But we do have a semi-cross country flight we connect to, on an Airbus A321. This flight does at least have power and TV screens.

Im gonna cross my fingers they do because thats an awful long flight not to have them

I would never count on any amenity to be available on an aircraft. Even if the aircraft is outfitted for it, that doesn't mean it's working. Even if the aircraft assigned to you now (or even the day before) has the amenity and it's working, the airline could change aircraft on you to one that doesn't have the amenity.

So, it's better to assume you don't have it and take the proper precautions (bringing power banks, downloading movies, whatever), and if the amenity is there and available, great!

Great point
We had one flight that had the screens with WiFi but the WiFi went out right after take off. They never got it working
Not much troubleshooting the flight attendants can do

Yep, about the only thing they can do is turn it off and back on and see if that helps.

oh right...I'm planning on it...

I typically fly American, because my airport, Philadelphia, is an American hub. But, I've flown Delta several times in the last several years to the midwest and the Rocky Mountain area. I wouldn't say Delta was far superior, but they are definitely a notch above American. That being said, I don't think there's enough of a difference to justify not choosing by schedule and price. (My flight to Italy two years ago, connecting through LHR, was British Airways, by the way, which reminded me a lot of an American flight.)
