American Airlines no longer on Expedia

Getting more difficult all the time to search for flights, now AA have stopped going thru Expedia.

I didn't realise it cost the company every time someone does a search though. Makes you wonder how much the helpful DISers have cost them .....

the way a they make money on most sites is on click through,when you search on kayack or a web crawler is when you click on a search result and then get put through to an airlines site ,the airline will pay them for introducing to them mostly its fractions of Pennines.but in expeidia as there acting as a ta they will get the commision for doing that as well

Fractions of pennies adds up. It is a very significant cost. There is legitimate concerns, here, both on Expedia's part and American Airlines' part. One side isn't correct and the other not; it's a matter of reasonable dispute. Both sides figure that they can do better by sticking to their guns than capitulating.

I booked direct with AA, expedia came up with the most stupid flight options when I looked for my ny flights.

It would never have occurred to me. I just saw it when I read their statement on the link you posted. I suppose all flight search sites do that then

The good thing with expedia is they are one of the few that allow you to customise your search by plugging in different airports, i.e. you can fly from Heathrow to Miami and then return from Orlando to Manchester if you like. Most others to a 'to and from' round trip.

Personally I never use Expedia to book but I do use its search option then book directly with the airline (always cheaper for me).

It is getting harder to search but realistically how many airlines are there? BA, VA, AA, Delta, Continental/United, US Airways, Air Canada...that's pretty much the majority of them and a lot of them codeshare anyway (e.g. Delta & KLM).

Our next trip was cheaper to book direct with US airways but our last one, last August cost £1,170pp with Expedia special rate compared to direct with Delta at £1,700pp, a £1,590 saving. Also with Expedia its sometimes cheaper to book on one of their sister sites, .com .au etc and pay in a foreign currency, No easy way to search for flights, its very time consuming.

I initially read that as "It must have cost...." I just saw that you said "I must have ..." I couldn't stop laughing If they ever find out they might make us enter the capcha letters like Royal Mail postcode finder so you can only do xxx no. of searches a day.
