The last time I flew American, the food consisted of a hot meal - in coach, even! So what does this new phrase mean? Do we have to pay for our pretzels and cup of soda, or does the airline offer snack boxes like Northwest does? If so, does anyone know what's in the boxes? Thanks!

when we flew american we were given a choice of a snack box or a sandwich box... the sandwich was a wrap and there were some "sides" (but i cannot remember what, i know lorna doones were in there!) and the snack box was tortilla chips, salsa, squeeze cheese and a few other items...

i believe their website shows the different meals/snacks for diff't flights (east to west gets one thing, north to south another, if i remember correctly)

the wrap sandwich was actually very very good :)

Flew AA to Miami in Jan from PHL. They had snacks for sale. Pringles in can 3.00, big CC cookie 3.00, I think drinks.. water, soda and coffee were still free. almost a 3 hour flight. No lunches offered or for sale.

We flew American last month. No meal for free or for purchase. They sold snacks...pringles, cookies, crackers.. for $3. Soft drinks, water were free. We were also charged to check bags curbside.

They're now also taking credit cards in flight for the purchases.

Do any of the airlines even give you a free soft drink and any kind of snack now? Or is it all a-la carte at a steep price? Need to know how necessary it is to buy some water or juice to take on the plane with me, and pack a snack.

BTW, we're flying Delta, if that makes a difference.

I think Spirt is the only airline that charges for coffee and soda, water still free.

Delta will give you a soft drink and a "snack" The snack is things like Peanut Butter and Crackers, 1 bag of chips, Package of cookies etc.

If you want food PACK it on LOL! (And are you missing much, that stuff they served was not really food!)

It was really more the drink that I was concerned with, I usually bring a snack anyways.

Hmmm, I think I'll pack a little something just in case - anyway, I'd rather spend $3 to get a larger container of Pringles (etc) here at home. Thanks for all the feedback!
