American Airlines Changed my flight!

I made flight reservations thru American Airlines in August for our trip in March. Being the obsessed Disney fanatic I am, I checked my air ressies recently just to make sure everything was still good (12 of us are flying together) and realized American changed our flight--we're departing for Orlando an hour earlier/arriving an hour earlier and departing from Orland an hour earlier....Everything works out okay but they didn't even email me any alerts about this. Good thing I'm obsessed or I may have never known!! Has this happened to anyone else? Will they do it again?

Delta did the same to us-except ours were bigger changes. We would have arrived 3 hours later and have to leave 2 hours earlier on the day we left. Plus we went from non-stop flishts to one stop, and like you they didnt even bother to tell us I saw it online and called. They totally messed up my ADR's so I pitched a fit (a small one) and they cancelled my flights, I rebooked with AA and am praying it does not happen again. Good luck.

Happens a LOT. Look for threads 'marked' with sad or angry faces, with various airlines' names in the title.

It's possible they'll change the flights again, which is why you haven't been notified. March is a long way off. DO check to make sure your seats are still assigned to you - if not, call American.

Our seats were messed up on one of the flights, but I saw that and fixed it. We actually have 3 different reservations (1 for me, DH & DD, another for my mom, and another for my sis and her family) since you get more expensive prices the more people you book at once. I guess I should feel lucky that we are all still on the same flight. None of us fly very often so most of this is new to me. I'll just keep checking and super planning! Thanks for everyone's info!

The good thing about making your reservations far in advance is that you have them. The bad news is that you are more at risk for schedule changes. AA likely will send an update closer to your departure date, but you're wise to keep an eye on it due to the seating situation. Realistically, it's going to be tricky to manage seating for a party of 12 no matter what, but it's good to stay on top of it. You'd be surprised how many people show up at the airport only to realize that their seating is all screwed up, when a little bit of advance checking would have solved the problem.

For our September 2006 trip I booked with AA back in November 2005. They changed our flights in July (moved us up by 3 hours). I did finally receive a notice in the mail about a month after the change was made.

In my experience, AA will make changes to their schedule from time to time. In the past, when this has happened to me, I usually got a notification a little closer to my departure date. I assume they do things that way in case they have to make more changes before the flight.

It happens ALL the time, especially when you book so far out. There are dozens of threads on this board alone complaining on flight changes. And yes, there's a good chance the schedule will change again. Or the flight may even be canceled.

Just another example of why we only fly Southwest
