American Airlines at the port - nope!

You can check your bags for AA at the port, but you cannot check in for your flight.

I did that onboard with AA.com.

AA is still here and not going anywhere as far as I know. Took 3 runs out to them yesterday and all seemed to be running as normal. They usually try and put flights before noon right on the bus, but if flight time is close I guess they may go ahead and let you check. Remember that the airline reps there have their own procedures so some may and some may not.

Rule #1, talk to DCL first, they are more likely to know who's there than anyone else. AA.com is just a travel agency for American Airlines.

Second, listen to that guy right above my post. :)

And third, last cruise we checked our luggage with American and did get our boarding passes right on the spot.

Don't know if that part has changed or not since, but I'd say they still do check-in at the port as the tags for your luggage are encoded to your boarding pass. And, per the new TSA rules they won't take luggage without a passenger to match them up to.

We used the AA check-in at the port on 1/18/04. It was unbelievably easy. We walked right off the ship, got a porter to help us with our luggage and walked straight to the AA check-in at curbside. We checked in our luggage and received our boarding passes right there and then. We had a towncar pick us up and we made our 11:35 flight with plenty of time to spare. All we had to do was go straight to the Gate at the airport. I hope AA is still there because this was a great convenience.

Even though we took a towncar, I did see the DCL bus right across from the AA check-in, and the bus arrived at the airport about 10 minutes after we got there.

Porter Bob, Please tell me what is an average tip per bag? Even having traveled quite a bit I always feel like I am not doing the right thing with the tips and I want to be sure to tip enough! We usually do $1 per bag and then round up to an even number. So if there are 4 bags then we would tip $5. Is that enough? Be honest please, as I want to do what is right! Thank-you!:D
