My husband and I just purchased our timeshare and this is our first DVC trip to Disney World. We are staying at OKW and I was wondering what amenities the room included. Specifically, I need to know if there are hair dryers in the Studios. Any other suggestions on what to pack would be great as well!

Thx!

Welcome Home,
Believe it or not , I have never stayed in a studio. I have been at OKW since 1994 and have either been in a one or two bedroom. Never a grand villa. I bet there are hair dryers there. We have never regretted buying into the DVC. We even had a family reunion there about ten years ago. You'll get more posts soon about studios.

HI,

There is a hairdryer in the studios and a dorm size fridge microwave and I think a 4 or 6 cup coffee maker. plus paperplates bowls and plastic utensils to get you started - I would definately bring more of these if you plan to eat in the room. Of course a mini dishsoap, papertowels and a scrubbie sponge are in the room too.

I have stayed at OKW often - IT IS WONDERFUL IMHO - It is only rivaled by BWV again only IMHO. The studio is good sized and will have a balcony/patio - I have had 2 ground floor studios and If I could do it again I would have asked for a higher floor only because the A/C units for all the rooms seem to have been outside and next to our patio - when inside they didn't bother me -but when outside you can here them.

As far as packing - we usually stay in 1 or 2 bdrm units and do go grocery shopping down there. It depends if you are planning to eat in your room - we always have some snacking food and usually breakfast foods even in the studios - I have learned to by 1/2 of what I think we will need because we always through a;ot out if I don't.

I usually pack a small kit of toiletries, shampoo/conditioner soap etc all travel size and we bring our own coffee and filters - the coffee at the OKW are those coffee in the filter all in one deals - the coffee makers use the basket type filters.

I babble sorry

Just got back from OKW on Monday. OKW is our main home and where we bought our first points. After our stay this past week, I remembered why I love it so much. It feels like home. It is so comfortable, peaceful, a real oasis in all the WDW hubbub. Yes, there are hair dryers in the studios. Plus you will have two very comfortable queen sized beds to sleep in. And a very large bathroom. Enjoy your stay.

Both beds are Queen Size? Really? That's GREAT! I just booked my first stay in a OKW studio for June. I am anxious to see what it is like compared to the other DVC studios we have stayed in (BCV, BWV, VWL). I like the idea of not having to pull out the bed for the kids every night. It is just there waiting for them!

I also want to try walking to DTD. I think that will be cool. Does anyone know if you can walk to SSR?

OKW studios have marvelous beds but beware families with small children: the beds are very high. If your kids are little, a roll in the night would be nasty! I always call housekeeping and they bring 2 complimentary bedrails. The nice thing about the beds being so high is that empty suitcases fit under them. Also, OKW has nice big bathrooms! We love it there. Have fun!

I thought I read somewhere that okw studios were smaller than others.I know that the 1 and 2 beds are huge but thought that wasn't the case with the studios....maybe i'm wrong.

I thought I read the opposite. I thought the OKW studios were larger than the others; but this will be my first time in an OKW studio in June, so I haven't seen one yet.

The studios are a funky shape -- kind of octagonal, so it is hard to get a feel for the square footage, but they are nice and roomy. The closet is big and so is the bathroom. There is a little table with two chairs, the kitchenette, and a nice dresser with the TV. Each unit has a nice balcony. The beds are high so you can put your suitcases under them. With two beds, it's hard to compare to the studios at other resorts which are one bed and one pullout couch. But in general, these are bright, airy, ROOMY rooms.
