At the 6 pm press conference the sheriff said that the body is most likely Somer Thompson.
The mother doesn't seem suspect to me at all and I really do find it sad that people are judging her grief (or lack there of.)
Okay........I said from the outset that I had NOT seen any video of the mother.
Therefore, I was not commenting on the mother in this case. I was making an observation about criminal cases
in general. At the risk of repeating myself, I did mention that there is a world of difference between a person who is "all cried out" and a dry crier. There's a big difference between someone whose face is puffy, eyes are bloodshot, etc. from previously crying yet is not presently crying vs. a dry crier. There is a difference between someone who is struggling to maintain their composure vs. a dry crier.
Dry criers are in a league of thier own. Maybe I'm not getting the description across or maybe people have mistakenly thought I was applying the term to THIS mother, but dry criers are a unique group. They set off alarm bells for a reason. If I had to sum it up, these are the people who are working overtime to convince the public and the police (by their facial expressions, scrunched up faces, voices, dabbing at nonexistent tears, etc.) that they are crying a river. Yet they are not crying at all. It's
not the fact that they are
not crying that makes them suspicious.......It's the fact that they are
trying so hard to make you THINK they are crying when they are doing no such thing. A truly griefstricken person doesn't give a rat's hiney if they
appear to be sufficiently griefstricken. The last thing their mind is on is trying to make sure others have gotten the message, "Oh, he/she must be so broken up. They're crying their eyes out."
A griefstricken or terrified person may cry, look stunned, remained composed, become hysterical or act any number of ways. But they don't spend a ton of energy trying to convince people they're crying when they're really not crying at all. They just don't. Those are the dry criers and they are concentrating on
themselves.
At any rate, it's an observation I've made and clearly, others (including police) have made. There is a reason for it. But I never applied it to the mother in this case, as I have YET to see any video of her. Given what I've read, it doesn't even seem possible she had anything to do with it.
That being said, I truly wish it was unimaginable that any mother could hurt her own child. But time and again, we are taught this is not so.
