Amazon vs. Apple Store

I'm getting 2 macbooks and was wondering if there's any advantage in purchasing from Apple Store vs. Amazon. If I get it from Amazon, I get % back on my Amazon visa and save on taxes. But since one will be DD17's first macbook, I'm wondering if purchasing it at the Apple store will offer some advantage?

Go with Amazon. There isn't any particular advantage to getting it from the Apple Store.

Our last Mac Air purchase we made through the Amazon store because I had a bunch of gift cards saved up. We received the regular Apple Warranty and then we purchased the extended warranty and accidental damage through Square Trade.

I have purchased from the Apple store various times, but more recently I go with Amazon. I bought our iMac from them last Christmas, along with the Applecare (which was actually cheaper than at the Apple store), and since then, I'm more inclined to use Amazon - I love Amazon!

We got an e-mail from Apple saying that they're having a "special one-day shopping event" on Friday (both in stores and online), but it doesn't give any specific info. So something is definitely happening on Black Friday, but I don't know if it's worth getting excited over.

Amazon = no tax and always free shipping for me so I usually go that route.

This thread made me look at the Amazon store for a laptop I've been looking for. I would never have thought about buying there. The price was about the same with the no tax vs the education store at Apple. But, I found a refurb one from Apple that beat the price of both. But thanks for the head's up. I'll look again on Amazon.

Black Friday, the last 2 years, has not been much at Apple. It used to be 10% I think. Upromise had 5% cash back from Apple a few days ago but the refurb I wanted was not in stock that day. So I only got the usual 1% from Upromise.
