Anyone else use amazon subscription for household products service?

Good, bad, any advice?

It looks so simple just pick the product you like and pick shipment times, never go to the store.

I'm trying this with toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, and cereal. Yes, and odd combination, but that's what sorta worked for me. I checked my store receipts and compared net weight prices between the two. For the most part, Amazon was right on the prices or a few pennies cheaper. I've got Amazon Prime, so the shipping is free. I received my first shipment in October and I'm waiting on my next shipment for some of the items the end of December. Right now, I don't see a down side. You can alter the timing at any point, which I've already done. I've increased the cereal to once a month instead of once every two months.

The downside is that the pricing isn't locked in for future shipments.

I bought a case of Puffs facial tissues using subscribe and save at the end of October. I paid $18 for it at that time. The current price is $44.

It's easy enough to cancel the subscription and then just resubscribe when the price goes back down, but you can't really just subscribe and forget about it.

Ah....need to go check prices....thanks!

I tried it but I found that there were very few things I bought "regularly." I might buy them often, but not on a set schedule. I either ended up having too many of something of having to go buy at the store anyway because I was out.

I found stocking up at Costco to be better for me.

The only thing I use a subscription for is the water filter for our refrigerator. I get a new one at whatever the best price is every 7 months. Definitely a good deal (though 8 months would be a better length for me, but they don't have that choice).

Problem with going to Costco/SAMs club is I end up buying case of candy bars or other junk we don't really need

I use it for cat food (dry and wet), flax seed, protein powder, dog treats, dog food. If you order 5 or more items a month, you get 20% off. I do get an email right before shipping that allows me to make changes if I decide I don't need something that month. I have Prime so everything ships for free.

I use it for my Hydroxycut. Their price is now less than Sam's Club and now I can get it shipped without having to remember. On Monday, I noticed that I was almost out so I checked when my next shipment was due (Jan 4) so I added an "instant" shipment and changed my next scheduled delivery to Feb 4. Easy peasy! I think I like the idea about the toilet paper and kleenex...I might have to look into that.

I use it for cat food also. Most other things I can get cheaper with coupons- although if money weren't a concern I can see the appeal of getting more.

I LOVE Subscribe & Save. I always have at least 4 things every month which is what you need in order to get 15% off (it's 5% if you have less than 4 items that month). You get free shipping with or without Prime (I don't have Prime but never pay for shipping on S&S items). You can even do S&S on add-on items.

Make sure you go check your S&S items by the 20th of the month as they start preparing orders on the 21st and at that time it's too late to cancel anything for that month. I always go in around the 18th-20th to see if the prices on the things that are coming up are good prices (they really can fluctuate a LOT, especially if you first started buying something because of a sale) and also to check my list of S&S items that aren't due to ship to see if I want to get any of them earlier and add them to this month's shipment.

I get the following items through S&S.
gluten free groceries (cookies, cereal bars, pasta, toaster pastries, cereal, licorice, mixes)
non-specialty foods (nuts, cereal, apple sauce, microwavable lunches, snack foods, tomato sauce)
skin care products
vitamins
personal care products (tissues, toilet paper, hand soap, toothpaste, dental floss)

I used to use it more often when I lived near the UPS hub. Now, it's too big of a pain.

However, I do still have one thing shipped - a certain Chex mix that you can't buy in my city. I get 6 at a time, every three months. Makes me so happy to go pick up that box!

:goodvibes

I have my cat and dog food set to be delivered once a month! It's the best, both are on a grain free diet, which can be hard to find where I'm at. I'm thinking of adding some non perishable grocery items too!

I use sub and every every month! I LOVE it!!! If you order 5 or more things that month you get 15% off that month. I coupon (or used to often and this is as good or better for me and not have to drive all around to save here and there)

If anybody goes through a lot of Bob's red mill products, we always get a better deal on their cases than we get locally. We make our own bread and waffles with their mixes.

I love S&S, even for things I don't buy monthly. You can adjust the frequency down to every 6 months and still push it back later than that if you need to. Everything is adjustable so you never get something delivered unless you neglect to check it. As pp said, they email you that it's time to check it.
We get vitamins, fish oil pills, fiber chews, coffee, shampoo, feminine products, Eucerin lotion & so many other things I can't remember right now. In the past we got liquid Tide & Kellogg's Breakfast bars but the price of those went up so I cancelled them. I try to wait so that I'm ordering 5 items to get the 20% off.
