Amazon Shipping in Packaging

it was either target or walmart but one of them previously shipped me both a multi pack of paper towels with just a label slapped on the side as well as one of those 30 pound buckets of cat litter. i WISH chewy would just slap labels on their cat litter buckets b/c 50% of the time the ones they send me boxed arrive broken (if they were just labeled the shipping people could just used the handles and avoid dropping).

On the other hand, I an order of about 8 items from walmart, including 4 or 5 2oz bottles of craft paints. I got it in FOUR separate mailings. I'd rather wait an extra two days and get everything in one box.

This happens to me all. the. time. when I order from Walmart. :headache: Well before the pandemic, I learned that buying pantry items, is so much cheaper than NYC prices. One can of chick peas is about $2 per can here. Whereas the Walmart brand is $0.59 per can. Shipping is free over $35. So, I usually stock up and get a variety of supplies. Then they arrive in 5-6 HUGE boxes, with only a few items in each box and stuffed with plastic bags of air to fill in the empty space. And they arrive over several days, instead of 1 or 2 days.

If I'm not able to get to the mail room when they are open, the boxes sit against the back wall for a few days, where everyone can see them piling up as they come in. (A reason why I don't want my Amazon purchases on display.) I swear people in the building must think I'm a shopaholic with the amount of Walmart boxes I get every few of months. :lmao:

It probably wasn't Target. I've noticed if I buy several things in one order, they will try to put ALL the items in ONE box, even if the total weight exceeds what a cardboard box can reasonably hold. And the packer tends to choose a super large box, so they won't have to rebox everything if they get a too small box the first time.

One of those plastic bags of air breaks and the cans of food turn into 1lb projectiles in the box. :duck: They break the other bags of air and fling around the box during transit. I've gotten a few boxes that look like a traveling circus ran over them and the boxes are barely holding together by what little tape there is. :scared: And many of the cans are dented by each other.

I actually have to fill up my online cart according to what I want in one box. So no buying a bottle of detergent with bags of food in paper bags, in case the detergent spills and saturates the bags. And not too many canned items at once which will possibly bust the cardboard box.

I saw that for the first time last week. A fellow resident ordered a heavy box of kitty litter and it came with just a label slapped on the side. The box was so heavy the mail room people didn't even bother moving it. It was left on the counter where the UPS guy left it. And it was staying there till the resident picked it up. :lmao:

Target once sent me a 30 pound bag of dog food with the label on the bag. The bag tore a bit and whoever delivered left it leaning up against the front of my garage, in the rain.
